davros Posted November 1, 2008 Share Posted November 1, 2008 Folks, Seems like the info. on the wiki is getting to a level where it's worth communicating out to a broader audience. It's still in need of a polish and more details (incl more pic's ) but essentially is enough to get someone started on making a coop mission. Given that many of you belong to other clans/boards, can I ask you to take a moment to spread the word about the wiki by posting in your other community/clan forums? You never know there might be one of two people out there who are interested in creating a coop mission, and just need a starting point. Completely up to you if you do this and pls. post if you think I am out of line and I'll remove/adjust my request. I am not trying to run a publicity campaign, but just think it may be of interest to a broader community who may not know it's there 'cos they do not look in this forum. I've adapted Rocky's words from the front page at GR.net and posted the following over at the ubi forums....Not much interest and that's ok too. I do not mind if people know about it and choose not to do anything, that's fine...just want to give evryone the opportunity should they want to have a go. "Hi Folks, A few weeks ago it occured to me that a central knowledge base might make it a bit easier for the community to create coop games and so I have created a wiki. Being a wiki, it's able to be updated by other people as a way to share knowledge. The GRAW 2 coop creation wiki is an extremely clear and concise guide on how to create your own coop missions in GRAW 2. There are screenshots and (currently 9) videos included in the tutorials..including a video tutorial that shows you how to have a new co-op GRAW 2 mission created in ~15 minutes! This really is a great starting place for would be modders looking to make their first steps in making custom missions for GRAW 2. I hope you like it. Be keen to get them to add/change/shape the wiki as they go 'cos it's kind of done frmo my perspective and as I am not new to it, I ,may/have made some assumptions about the way it should be done...and always keen to geta fresh view. Also, make sure they understand that it will be a frustrating experience. The game is unstable and so is the editor. The best way to avoid unnecessary frustration is to go slow, and test often. Add a few mexicans, locations etc. save a backup and run the game...see how it plays, and if it crashes, you only have a few things to check rather than a bunch of things you have changed. When the game crashes with a script error, it does not give much info. - so the fewer things you change at one time the better....and always, always keep backups so you can "roll back" if it all goes south. Put loads of "showMessage" statements in there too so you know what the script is doing. And don't try and make the first mission too complex.
