This Film Contains Depiction Of .....

Recommended Posts

I was just watching a trailer for a new film, rather unbelievable as it's about car windscreen wipers - but it's a true story, but what made me wince was the end credits, with a warning at the bottom, in bigger font size than just about any other text in there...

This Film Contains Depiction of Tobacco Consumption.

My god, what is the world coming too. Whatever next we will be getting warned about?

I work for the Council - same thing happens to our employees, smoke in the van and get a fine. And the enforcement officer doesn't even need a witness - he see's you with a lit cigarette in a council vehicle, bang, straight fine.

Edit > Oh yeh it gets better - if you are a smoker and you are out on business in YOUR OWN CAR, and you have a colleague with you - you cannot smoke, not even in your own car. LMAO.

Well, we warn for depictions of violence -- sexual content, alcohol consumption...

Hitting people, fornicating, and drinking are all things people commonly do, but parents still appreciate the heads needed to shelter their children from all three in the media. Is tobacco consumption a bit silly to warn about? Probably, but i know parents who wouldn't want their kids exposed to any media 'glorifying' bad habits -- even upwards of teenager children.

Warning: this forum contains a [graphic] depiction of a smiley smacking his head against a wall.

If some-one steals steals your telly, the police can't find them/can't be bothered with it. You park your vehicle illegaly, and the police are right on it. I know some-one that recently parked their vehicle considerately, but the police said it was parked illegaly (but considerately) and fined him.

On my paper cup thingy on the way home from Denmark today: "Warning - Contents may be hot." I'd never have guessed that if that warning wasn't there.

That says it all.

Blame it on the man and woman who placed hot cups of coffee between their legs then proceeded to squeeze said cup of coffee and thus spilling it all over their legs and other parts and burning themselves. They sued the companies ((McDonalds was one of them for sure) and won rather large awards. This is where judges should use common sense and toss such cases out of court.

I remember not long after, someone did the "well, it worked last time" routine: He sued some fast food chain because the cheese in his burger was too hot. "It burned like napalm", he said. As I recall, the judge rejected the case. :D
