dporter
For those of you who don't know, Zipper is the company who developed the socom series for the Playstation 2 (know being developed by Slant 6 for the PS3). At E3 today Zipper announced a game, the likes of which I had never heard of on a console before. For awhile Zipper has hinted that they were working on something massive after their last Socom game and many of the forum members guessed and hoped that it would be some sort of massive multiplayer game and it appears that they were correct. Currently it's just being called "MAG" for massive action game and details are not complete but the ideas behind the game are extremely unique for a console game. The details are not fully known at the moment of course, but here is what we do know. + 256 players + 8 player squads + Lead by people who are "proven" to be good leaders + Character advancement tree to fine-tune your character + Vehicles including ground and air combat + Set in the near future + Zipper has been working on the game for about 3 yea Not only are you competing against the other 128 players, but you are also competing against the other squads on your team!!!!! Your squad basically has to outlast the other squads, and pull their own weight (and if your good the weight of other squads)... The leaders of the squads "rank up" by having their squad perform well!!! You tube video = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4nxx4nPXEE Sources http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3168751 http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstatio...hread.id=125348 - Great thread on sony forums discussing this game with some good images of the game from the conference http://ps3.ign.com/articles/889/889850p1.html I'm interested to see where this goes. This is just mind boggling. If they pull this off it could be hours of fun. I just think of a world of warcraft type game with guns when I look at this new game.
