Kitchen_Unit 0
Hello People, Recently I have been running into a problem where I have try to host, or even join a multiplayer game, and every 3rd game or so it crashes from the load screen (The "Please wait, loading" screen). This greatly hinders gameplay, especially when I am trying to host. I copied the following from my Ike.log. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ***** User's system configuration ***** CPU: GenuineIntel 1596 MHz Pentium 4 RAM: 512 MB O/S: Microsoft Windows 2000 5.1 build 2600 Ghost Recon (RELEASE) version = 1.4.0.0(0) RSDisplayMgr::CreateGameWindow: Creating a 1024x768 window at 0,0 on monitor Plug and Play Monitor attached to NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 100/200 RSDisplayMgr::CreateGameWindow: Game running on primary display Plug and Play Monitor attached to NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 100/200 HAL (hw vp): NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 100/200 R5G6B5 RSFILEDATA: FindFile could not find file ike_fx_fire_type2.tga RSFILEDATA: FindFile could not find file ike_fx_fire_type2.rsb Unable to find ike_fx_fire_type2.tga anywhere. Crimson 0
Hm, your Ike file looks like its in order. Perhaps you need to update your nVidia device drivers. nVidia.com. It also wouldnt hurt if you went out and bout a SoundBlaster Live!, which are very cheap. Side note, this should be in the the Ghost Recon Technical Suppport section. An admin. or mod. will move it for ya.
Specter 0
I dont think it is your PC. I have the exact same one, except for my video, and you dont need to upgrade the sound, this chip works fine. What kind of internet connection do you have, and how is it set up? In the Ike log, it also mentions that it cant find certain files. What mods are you running, and if you are, what mods are running on the server? Here is the discrepency in the IKE log you posted : RSFILEDATA: FindFile could not find file ike_fx_fire_type2.tga RSFILEDATA: FindFile could not find file ike_fx_fire_type2.rsb Unable to find ike_fx_fire_type2.tga anywhere. RSFILEDATA: FindFile could not find file lighthalo_effect3.rsb RSFILEDATA: FindFile could not find file lighthalo_effect3.rsb Unable to find lighthalo_effect3.rsb anywhere. Have you uninstalled/Reinstalled recently? Do you have Norton Utilities, and if so, have you run Windoctor to see if there is a problem? Have you defragged and run scandisk or diskdoctor recently? ANd last but not least, have you tried an uninstall/reinstall? Also, what version of directx do you have, and what is the exact model and specs on your video card? Jack57 0
Those missing files are perfectly normal, as Crimsom suggested. You will find them just about any time you view the Ike.log and are probably just leftovers from development. I'm sorry I don't have any advice to help you, but I just wanted to save you time trying to track down those files. I would suggest trying some different drivers, particularly for your video card (not necessarily newer ones either). Also try looking in your IkeCrash.log as well - it may give you some indication. Cheers, Jack

Specter 0
Which drivers are you using for directx and nvidia?
Kitchen_Unit 0
I recently downloaded DirectX 9.0 and the latest vid card driver. It didnt make a difference. Sincerely, Kitchen_Unit
SOTOMac 0
I found that DX9.0 was basically an Improvement over DX8.0 in the sense that some of the Drivers were left as is and NOT Overwritten. This can be especially Problematic when the Driver causing Your Problem is NOT one of the Drivers that was Overwritten by Your Installing DX9.0. That said - DX9.0a is a more Comprehensive rewrite of the DX Package and has solved alot of Problems with Gameplay and Dropping-out Issues. I'll bet the Installation of that Version would go along way to solving Your Problems. I'd suggest DL'ing and Installing that Version to see if It fixes Your Troubles. Sincerely,
Kitchen_Unit 0
I did download and install DX 9.0 and it didn't make a difference.
SOTOMac 0
I said DX9.0a ( a ) not DX9.0. Regards,
snakebite1967 0
as SOTO said also remove any nvidia drivers totaly and try some of the older ones a few ppl i know have had crashes and graphical errors running anything latert than the 29.42 driver, the most stable driver designed for that vid card i believe was the 21.83 if in doubt visit www.guru3d.com for a complete listing of drivers and user rated scores
