kderh
[FIXED] The Vista 2nd Map Loading Problem No apparently not:( GRAW 1.35 crashes on second map load on my Vista 64 rig using NV drivers 169.28 (most recent) w/ 8800 GTS Tried everything I don't want to revert to "ancient" 158 drivers because some other games dont work with them... Aracnid
I totally agree my other games work fine with the latest drivers & I do not want to use older drivers that create other issues that have been fixed. My opinion only!
Rhomboid
Apparently this *is* a known issue as I've found it in a lot of forums around the Internet. Oddly enough, no mentions here yet though. When I'm playing [GR] co-op I can connect to a server and play through the first map with no problem. However, on the next level change the game freezes where the Ghost logo in the bottom right would normally be spinning during the map load. I have to quit out to Task Manager and kill the process and reconnect. Every once in a while (about 1 of 5 times) I can make it through to the third map before this happens. Has anyone found a workaround or fix for this? It bugs me because even the *original* GR runs fine... GRAW is pretty much the first game I've had a real problem with on Vista 64 besides ARMA. silverwolf
I had the same similar issue to running GRAW on my custom built PC. Whenever I'd try to load a second map (after beating one, which in turn causes the game to load the next one), it would freeze at the load screen, not even the little skull would spin. I went to the Ubisoft directory, right clicked on it and went to properties, the folder was marked "Read Only" so I unchecked it, and applied the settings. I also went into the load game section and deleted any old save files I was no longer using. After doing that, the next level would load perfectly fine! Vista x64 with the Nvidia 8800GTS with drivers 175.16 here, even though it appeared to be more of GRAW issue itself (or the fact that the folder was read only???) Hope this helps! Rhomboid
Still not working here. I just installed the 175.16 drivers myself (same card and Vista 64) and I still lock up on the second map. I noticed that if you un-check read-only on the folder it will automatically be set back to read-only when you look again. I've tried everything in this thread. Huge bummer, I was hoping this was finally fixed. Is this still a problem with GRAW2? I've been avoiding buying it because if it does this also I want nothing to do with it. Rhomboid
Just to save other people the trouble... GRAW is broken on Vista 64. I set up a dual boot with XP and Vista 64 and on the same hardware, with the same driver version numbers, GRAW freezes up on the 2nd (usually) or 3rd(sometimes) map load under Vista 64 but not XP. I spent a week and a half troubleshooting with Ubisoft after opening a trouble ticket. No matter how many things they had me try it wouldn't work correctly. They ran out of ideas pretty quickly and just had me run dxdiag and post my results a few times. They gave up and simply closed the ticket on me (with no notification) after a little over a week. They chose to bury their heads in the sand. I think that speaks volumes. So now I have to boot back into XP to play but I can play all day with no problem. If you're having this problem, don't let them jerk you around... It's a bug. Maybe there's someone out there on Vista 64 able to play find but after searching several GR forums I can't find them.
