Dick Splash 23
This seems pretty thick with intrigue. He's named Mark Thatcher, the son of the former Prime Minister as a plot organiser and there are some other connected names behind the failed coup on this oil rich country. After Eton, he went to Sandhurst and joined the Scots Guards. He passed selection with the SAS in the seventies and later left the army to sell hacker proof software. He was called back into service in '91 as an aide to Sir Peter de la Billiere, the head of the British forces during the first Gulf War. A year later he help set up Executive Operations, a mercenary organisation and later through an offshoot of the company, Sandline, sold arms to Sierre Leone. Dick Splash 23
Would make a good film.A TV film was made and aired in 2006 in the UK and Australia and Miramax have the rights to make a film on the book 'The Wonga Coup' it seems. A few more bits I've read has both his Father and Grandfather captaining England's cricket team and Simon Mann had a brief acting role in 'Bloody Sunday' as a Parachute Regiment CO. The film was directed by Paul Greengrass of the last two 'Bourne films. There's still a film out there to be made about Ranulph Fiennes. Certainly his pre-'adventurer' days. After being commisioned into the Royal Scots Greys he passed selection with the SAS and was later RTU's after blowing up a dam that was made for the film 'Doctor Dolittle' in Castle Combe. He was then seconded to the Army of the Sultan of Oman in 1968 and ended up in Dhofar. DS
