Ruin
Does anyone know where I can get a free pop-up killer. I keep getting pop-ups everytime I open up IE.
BigT4187
I use AnalogX POW ... go here. You can edit the pop ups that you want to kill. Works great for me!! BigT
Ruin
Working good so far. Thanks BigT!
Crimson
I know Norton Personal Firewall has one, and it works beautifully.
Sgt. Slaughter
I use Pop-up Stopper, it's free and works quite well i'd say.
magnumkp
If you get popups everytime you open IE it sounds like some form of spy/scum ware on your system. Get lavasoft Adaware 6 and it will get rid of all those nasties for you. Hopefully.

Guest Jester
Does anyone know where I can get a free pop-up killer. I keep getting pop-ups everytime I open up IE. Just out of curiosity, what is your home page set to?
Ruin
@Jes, These forums. http://www.ghostrecon.net/forums is the exact URL. @Magnum, what does that program do? Kill popups? Or remove spyware?
magnumkp
Adaware will find and remove all your spyware, which if you are getting popups as soon as you load IE sounds like what you have. Probably installed with a program like kaza, audio galaxy or something similar.
ZJJ
@ Ruin I was having the same problem. Would open IE, homepage of GR.net, and was getting annoying pop-ups. After it was suggested by Rocky, I downloaded Ad-aware and ran it. It works great! I would recommend you give it a try.
Ruin
I ran it. I'm still getting pop-ups. I think it's the ISP. It even happens when there are no IE windows open...
WhiteKnight77
If you have a PM waiting for you when you come to the forums (without visiting the News page first) you will get a pop-up of the message. If it is not a PM pop-up, then you got some serious spyware somewhere and need to get rid of it. I use Spybot Search & Destroy to help combat spyware and such along with Adaware and like the Spybot better.
T_1
I ran it. I'm still getting pop-ups. I think it's the ISP. It even happens when there are no IE windows open... Are these little Grey Pop-Ups with just text??? If they are it's a spammer using your IP address to send simple messages to your IP address VIA MSN Messenger, just make sure that unless your using MSN or OE shut it down at the task bar. Looking for an alternative PM prog - Try Trillian, works great and intergrates a load of Programs

Riku
There like a grey box with text and an okay button and they really annoy me How do i get rid of them... I think that's the ones that I was referring to, you got MSN running ... shut it down When u get a message from someone on MSN, it doesn't have an "Ok" button. Plus to send u a message over msn the other person would need ur e-mail address. But if it is MSN message then just block the person who's sending the message. Also u need MSN to be installed, and to be signed in to be getting messages over msn in the first place. To me it sounds like the type of pop u get when an error's occured ect, or stuff like that... T_1
From what I can see it uses the msg program that Messenger uses, but people dont need a mail address of Hotmail Nick, they just need yout IP. I always make sure that MSN is completely shutdown, and I dont get bother ed with these as much as I used to

Ruin
@Avey, do you mean the messenger system that comes with Win XP? If so, there's a way to fix that. MSN Messenger service is different though. @T, I took care of those after having XP for only 3 days. lol. Looks like I need to switch popup killers. This one is now closing down this site. ROFL.
