sq56 0
I bought GR last week, installed it OK, but when I tried to run it the splash screen appeared then everything went black and my PC locked up big-time (had to switch the power off! - even ctrl+alt+del didn't work). After several attempts, uninstalled then re-installed - same thing. Took the disc back to be replaced (60 mile round trip...), got the new disc back and tried to install. Install stopped after approx. 18% with message "data3.cab required. Insert disc 0". There is no disc 0 and no data3.cab on my CD. Is Ghost Recon a myth? Or maybe someones idea of a bad joke? Beginning to wonder...
Specter 0
Below are the steps for completely uninstalling and reinstalling a corrupt installation. Do this and it should be fine. After you re-install it, if it does the same thing, here is what we need posted to help you solve your issue. WE need: System Specs: Processor, motherboard chipset, video card, sound card, amount of RAM, driver version for video and sound, and directx version, and what OS you are running. Also, post the IKE Crash log, which can be found in the main Ghost recon directory. Also, before doing the below steps, uninstall it from add/remove programs in the control panel, and go to the drive and directory you installed it to and remove all ubi and Redstorm Entertainment folders, then do the below steps. No, the game isnt normally this hard to get going. Normally it goes off without a hitch. I have only seen this problem once before. Its in a thread in here somewhere. Ghost Recon Uninstall / Reinstall Problems Question While installing Ghost Recon, the installer crashed. Now, I cannot uninstall the game or reinstall the game. What can I do? Answer If you are having a problem removing Ghost Recon so you can reinstall it, try this and see if it helps: From the Start Menu, click Run and type in "regedit" (without the quotes) then left click "OK". Following the next set of instructions requires you to left-click the "+" sign to the right of the proceeding directories to expand them: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Red Storm Entertainment (right-click on the folder Ghost Recon, left-click "delete" and accept the removal message) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> Windows -> Current Version -> App Paths (right-click on the folder GhostRecon.exe, left-click "delete" and accept the removal message) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> Windows -> CurrentVersion -> Uninstall (right-click on the folder that starts.. {D89EF3B3-.. }, left-click "delete" and accept the removal message) Close the Registry Editor and reinstall Ghost Recon, then any expansion packs (if applicable). Finally, download the Ghost Recon patch 1.3 and 1.4. Install the 1.3 patch then the 1.4. Do this, and let us know, and make sure you post the requested info. I hope this helps.
