GRAW Wont Run on Vista

Recommended Posts

Hope someone can help. I've recently installed GRAW on my new system which is running Vista 32 Ultimate, I originally got the game as a freebie with a ageia physics card.

The game installs OK and I then apply the latest patch. However, I dont have the physics card installed in my machine but have installed the software, this worked perfectly well in my old XP system. When I click on the shortcut to start the game everything seems to load but then the screen goes blank and stays that way, the only way to continue is to bring up Task Manager and close the application from there.

Any tips on what I'm doing wrong?

mate i did get the same problem but witrh graw 2 and in the end it was my sound card an xfi-gamer i had to remove it and it now works fine, just check to make sure it is not this.

I've got the Asus Maximus Formula and I'm using the sound card that came with the board. All of my drivers including the sound drivers are up to date.

My system has got plenty of meat to play this game 2gig of RAM, Intel QX9650 and 8800 Ultra GPU.

Is there a workaround to get this game running in Vista?

I don't run on that OS but I seem to recall others getting :AW to operate in Vista by using the (administrators) Program Compatibility Wizard; right-click the GRAW.exe, >Properties >Compatibility >Microsoft Windows XP (Service Pack 2).

If you have not tried this yet it might be worth a shot.

I think I may have finally managed to get GRAW working in Vista, I've only just managed to do this so I don't really know yet how stable it will be. It was quite simple really.

Right click on the desktop icon and select properties, click on the compatabilty tab and select "Run this programme in compatibility mode for:" and then select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)". Bingo, I'll post back with any stability problems.
