PC problems

Don't know what you have tried so far but if I were you the first thing I would do is...

Power off, crack open the case and switch the HDD to another SATA connector on the MoBo.

Then access your BIOS setup during POST, see if the hard drive is now recognised, and if it is double-check to see if your boot sequence (HDD order) needs to be changed back to the original drive.

Maybe the bios reset and it emulating raid instead of ide Check the settings for the controller in the bios. Do you have xp? boot of the cd, see if the boot cd sees the drive. if so do the repair. It will take you to the recovery console. Do a chkdsk help. Look for the setting to check even if flagged not dirty. Type the command.reboot. If still not seen, try a fixboot within the recovery and reboot.

Also before all this, check your sata connections, power and sata cable. Early boards didn't lock them very well and it may be loose.
