Malleus
So BETA is the standard Patch type now? Good thing they're working on the game, of course. Edited April 4, 2008 by Malleus
NoQuarter
1.11, we hardly knew you. :'( It really improved the overall (SP) game performance. Hope to be able to say the same for 1.12.
doubletap
Are you guys running sound and weapon mods (or any mods) okay with the latest patch version?
Buehgler_AS
1.12 has been very stable/functional for us. We have had no problem with our 1.11 compatible mod running on it.
Noraf
ps, now a linux dedi 1.12b is out, if you didn't know. as for mods, well, we're prepping for the ECL nations cup, so, currently we've using ecl mod, and thats it. it runs fine on 1.08, 1.11b and 1.12b, though, the sounds are way better in 1.12b than in 1.08.... NoQuarter
All (other) things being equal...v1.11 is more stable than v1.12 on my system. If/when I receive one more out of memory CTDs' (never occurred w/last beta) it will be time to rollback.
Buehgler_AS
Well I would say 1.12 is doing better than 1.11 for me. With 1.11 it was the "Unable to allocate texture" crashes that were the only real instability I saw, but they were quite regular and annoying. Now with 1.12 there is the occasional "out of memory" problem, but all in all I would say there are quite a bit less frequent.
NoQuarter
^ Really, OK not to give up on v1.12 too soon I am going to finally clean out (and then restructure) the Addons dir then add the -maxmem=1024 target string tweak to the shortcut, and see what happens. ____OT Video settings; Running the view_distance at 10000 limits the (advanced option) terrain detail to "Normal" while scaling it back to 8000(+/-) limits terrain detail to "High". I was positive that when I orginally set up the profile in v1.06 (US), and then again in v1.08 that I was able to crank it to full view distance with no degrade to the advanced options, which I set at "Very High"...am I mistaken in that this has always been the case or was a change made to the betas (.09,.11,.12) limiting settings based on system specs/performance/whatever?
