Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X PC Trailer

I at least hope it's roll and pull type flying..you know, like the real thing. You may have had 100 missles in AC6, but the basics of flight were still there. What's even scarier then UBI is this game is being done by the Blazing Angles crew. I only tried the demo but it wasn't great and I didn't hear much good about the game(s) either.

I think the last time I was actually impressed with Tom Clany announcement game was 2005 with GRAW...before we knew what it would actually turn out like. And that was on the heels of GR2 being canned, so any news was good. Vegas, Vegas2, GRAW2, Endwar...my barf buckets are getting pretty full. Not that those games are horrible, just not really doing much for the "impress me" meter.

I was actually kind of excited for this, but the more I learn about it, the less and less I like it already. Will have to wait for the actual game, but so far so blah and a cg teaser while fun to watch is meaningless.

Seriously, you ought to know better by now :)

Would be interesting to see how well they've incorported those 10,000 Watt 1 million RPM phased plasma cannons and those air-bursting depleted uranium molten copper core mini-nuke 'bombz' that can be dropped next to friendlies safely because they magically don't harm them onto their seemingly futuristic aircraft.

Seriously.

One thing the credits and video haven't told you yet, is that the pilot in the video known as "Jester" is in all actuality Chuck Norris. That explains how he could drop bombs that turn into missles and the 90deg negative G push over the hill. In the 4 player coop, his wingmen are rumored to be "Iceman" AKA Crocket, "Merlin" AKA Michael Knight, and "Goose" AKA Mr. T.

The PMC leader is none-other than Dr. Evil himself, and this time there WILL be giant freaking sharks with laser beams

Ok.. I have been talking to some friends about this, and we were trying to figure out what plane that was in the trailer. I think it looks like a newer version of the Eurofighter but I don't know.. Anyone know right off the top of there head on what it is?

Dassault Rafale. It's in Ace Combat 6 too.

Doh.. Thanks. I forgot about that plane. I never used it in AC6, usually just the F-15/A-10 for bombing and the f22 or the SU-33 for the air combat.

God bless the internet, this is what I was looking for:

Strike Commander

Even better:

- take that fancy Ubi Teaser!

That game was real world jets but with the whole Mercenary fly for cash theme. Looked cool but since my father flew F-16s for the military I thought it was an absurd idea. Now I see Ubi may be doing something similar.

Coool look back on flight sims of the 90s though(the golden age of PC sims):

1990s Flight Sims

ahhh aces over the pacific. That is problably the game I have themost hours on up till now....lol

Aces over the Pacific and Aces over Europe were the pinnacle of WW2 flightsims for me. Simple enough that a total ###### like me could play them (modern ultra-realistic/complex flightsims have me stumped) yet made for realism rather than arcade. Total flightsim creaminess :)

Seriously, someone ought to develop a remake, and add Aces over the Eastern Front to the equasion

PS: Has anyone else wonderered about the name H.A.W.X.? "Hawk's" yeah, I know, but isn't it a bit.... erm... camp?

They're trying to get it out before the "G.I.J.O.E." movie comes out. You know...Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity???

Ah, sorry Rocky, you were giving me the impression you thought it happened all the time, which clearly isn't true. I'm not familiar with the incident you're talking about, but i can believe it happened.

Now that we're fully off topic about flight sims:

I own a boxed copy of Dawn Patrol, around here somewhere. never installed, just saw it and really wanted to own it.

Hi you guys :D

I've been playing GR for a long time and just picked up GRAW and GRAW2

Alright...First I am a flight sim nerd playing FSX and Falcon 4.0 Allied force an Lock On. I just HAD to point out some innacuracies in the video.

You see that plane? That is a Dassault Raffel, used by the French Air Force to support ground operations. It's either that pilot has high security class or another screw up by Ubi. Then you see him having a missle flying at him from the ground. It looks like a sidewinder which is purely launched from air to shoot down other aircraft. So why is it being fired from the ground? Finally he drops his bombs to support the Ghosts and he drops a GBU Paveway series Laser guided bomb. Then what I saw next made me laugh hard..It was rocket assisted. Ubi, if you haven't noticed Paveway's are free fall bombs.

Oh well

Time to get Ground Branch

Well, Ubi is French so they probably wanted their own plane showcased. More likely the force is multi-national, but still, doesn't mean a US pilot would fly a foreign plane. This isn't WWII where you can just throw someone in a Spitfire.

I can understand fudging the details here and there, but it is quite annoying the more inaccuracies you know about.

I can see the exec pitching this now: "It'll be RainbowSix in the skies with a Ghost Recon flavor and a cover system in the clouds! It'll be the TopGun of the video game world! I love myself, I'm so smart for inventing Tom Clancy."

I understand it being a French plane but isn't only the US getting attacked...or is NATO in it to.

Time to read the plot again :wall:

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to make rational excuses for them. My best rationlaization is that they're all idiots.

I thought I read somewhere that the average gamer was in their early 30s. Ubi treats gamers and games like they are just about to enter junior high.

ENHANCED REALITY SYSTEM (E.R.S.) - E.R.S. is in-game technology that helps turn novice aviators into elite pilots of the future. The Enhanced Reality System is the backbone of the HAWX flight experience: radars and incoming missile detection, anti-crash system, damage control system, tactical map and information relay, and weapons trajectory control. E.R.S. also allows players to issue orders to their squadron, making this system as iconic to HAWX as the Cross-Com system is to Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter!

ASSISTANCE MODE – Players can ease into their flight missions and gain a level of comfort with the use of the assistance mode. Once employed, players can take full advantage of their technological support through the E.R.S and gain maximum piloting security. If the situation calls for the player to unleash the full potential of the aircraft, the assistance mode can be switched off and all safety features will be deactivated. This comes with increased risks, but allows the player advanced dogfighting maneuvers and stunning third-person views.

REALISM AND AUTHENTICITY – Players have the opportunity to take the throttle of over 50 of the world’s famous aircrafts, as well as being able to dogfight over realistic modern landscapes that have endured years of post-war trauma.

Just keeps getting <blanker@#&%> and <blanker@#%&>. Knowing me I'll still probably try it. I just hate press releases like this. So easy a "caveman" can do it!

Wrong about the Sidewinder. It is used on the MIM-72 / M48 Chaparral Forward Area Air-Defense System [FAADS] antiair weapon system though it has been deactivated for some time.

A hole in the market has been filled. I've been waiting for a semi-arcade, modern flight sim. This is the first one I've heard of.

should be fun... as long as you don't expect a "sim"

I don't think the point is that there's a market being filled. I think it's what people come to expect when they hear the name "Tom Clancy" on a title. It used to mean a fairly realistic, insider's view type of game that glorifies the team concept and not any individual operative. Plus it's supposed to have a great story behind it as well. Now, what it USED to be and what it means now is something that is debatable. One word that is coming to my mind right now (and it's late) is "cartoonish"

I'm sure people somewhere will like it. I'm not sure Tom Clancy fans will like it

Also: AGM-123 Skipper II (rocket assisted Paveway II, US Navy only). Sorry mate :D. You do have a point though. But then again, this is hardly going to be the most realistic portrayal of modern air war ever seen...
