Ruin 17
I'm terribly horrified to do this for my current BIOS. I know updating is recommended, but I actually have my computer running in one direction. I was wondering if anyone else does this and how it has worked out for them.
Stinger 0
I've done it, its not hard at all. If you ares satisfied with your system stay with it. But its nothing to be "afraid" of.
Ruin 17
Hehe, call it parnoia, I just don't want it to change anything. Maybe the time will come when I upgrade parts, but not now...
Urban_Tiger 0
It's not bad to do at all Ruin ! Don't think your board has a software option to flash within an OS but the following link may be of use to you and hope it helps out (think you said in another post that your sig took you to your system specs etc, if that's the case this should be the info you require and it looks like you have 2 ways to do it) Epox BIOS Flash Support Sometimes it's necassary to do it with some boards to enable certain functions etc and it can be a benefit depending how long you've had it, that's even if they have released a later end user Flash to the Factory setting though!! If you haven't had it that long it may already be flashed to the latest release !
Ruin 17
Thanks UT. It came with a Flash program already, so all I need to do is connect and install... but I was sorta hesitant...
Crimson 0
I remember when I first flashed by BIOS. First came the bright green screen, followed by a really high pitched beep that lasted for about 10 seconds. After I recovered from my heart attack, I found out it was supposed to do that. Urban_Tiger 0
LOL Crimson, it can be a scary prospect the first ever time you venture into it hehe!! Ruin, if it does come with a Flash programme or manager then that's even easier and should make the process less likely to raise the old blood pressure hehehe (or completely drop it in some cases if it goes wrong lol) ! I got the privialage (sp?) of doing it all through DOS commands.
Havok 30
I use to feel the same as you Ruin , but then i took the plunge and just flashed my bios to two versions higher than it already was recently. Was easy to do and no problems since, mind you i saved a copy of the version i was currently running just in case there was any problems. I am in the process of reformatting anyways so i figured I'd flash the bios before i upgrade the chipset .
WhiteKnight77 1
The first time I flashed a mobo, I really freaked out when I couldn' t boot back up. Thanks to NurFace for helping me thru it. I flashed this one shortly after I built this one with the flash utility ASUS has that allows you to do it in Windows.
XavierOnasis 0
Nevermind the popping sound that occurs when the juice hits the mobo...
