supasniper 0
yep but nothing comes up! it works with other games like return to castle wolfenstein, soldier of fortune 2 & red alert
ARDelta 0
Not to belabor the point, but have you double checked the ability to host a game of Castle Wolfenstein, Soldier of Fortune 2, or Red Alert 2 over the LAN since you found out you can't host GR? You did click on "Create Game" on the host, right?
supasniper 0
yes i checked them and i clicked "create game" on the host
WhiteKnight77 1
Just out of curiosity, have you made sure that the built in firewall for XP is disabled?
Specter 0
If you are running XP on all your LAN PC's, make sure the XP firewall is disabled. It will block GR, even on a LAN. IF you have a 3rd party firewall, either disable it, or configure it so that the GR Ports, 2346-2348 are open. If you have a router setup, even on a LAN, you still have to open up the GR ports, or take the easy way and DMZ the server. Some people dont recommend this, but it is the easiest and most maintenace free way to open the server, especially if you have short DHCP leases, meaning that your ip addresses change every time you reboot, or even every so many hours. supasniper 0
i'm just using a switch and (i'm going to sound like a ###### here) but how do you dissable the firewall in XP? and i'm using Agnitum Fire Wall
ARDelta 0
For the firewall in XP: In Control Panel, double-click Networking and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections. Right-click the connection on which you would like to disable ICF (interent connection firewall), and then click Properties. On the Advanced tab, click the box to clear the option to Protect my computer or network. I don't know about the Agnitum Fire Wall. If it's just software, can you shut it down? ARDelta 0
Great! Was the firewall the problem, or was it something else?
supasniper 0
i'd only disabled XP's firewall on 1 computer!
