PS3 XMB in game - sooner than you think

Right now you can't pause while in game, SP or MP, bring up the XMB and message and do voice and video chat. That's why the thread title says 'in game.'

Ok, but the links don't say or even hint at that. We know its coming sooner or later, but not from that, it aint saying ingame XMB features. Its just saying the features it has now. You can take everything it says and put them all togther and maybe make that out, but since they all seperate sayings it comes out to what it is now. It will come, maybe we will hear something at CG something coming up about it.

You are not around the PS3 community very much. I don't mean that as an insult, it is just a fact. Anyone that has spent 5 minutes on sites where XMB has been mentioned knows this to be a fact. I even said In gme in tjhe thread and that isn't an accident because In Game was the isssue to whic I initially pointed. In Game.

I will repeat myself. In Game XMB has been the major issue for PS3 owners.

All I did was Google in game XMB. As I said, everyone in the PS3 coomunity knows about this, has talked about this, has debated this. If you want to think I am deducing something that isn't there go ahead and be a brick.

And for the last damn time, the pages do say INGAME Ray Charles.

I seems like time and again you look at the obvious on this board but you don't really see it. You just look at it. Then you repsond with a post that amounts to calling other prople liars. And as far as you having a PS3, if you have one and are online at all you know how it works and if you have ever heard of the internet then you know PS3 owners have wanted this feature.

Talk to people as i play is what its saying! So you tring to tell me it don't do it now? I play online and talk to others in my game. Whats this got to do with XMB or even hint at it? Its just stating a feature it does have right now. Also you said XMB is so wanted like i don't know. You think i don't want it or have i even hinted i dont? You really don't understand me at all and i guess i never expect you too. You got your GUNS up just becuase i don't see anything there in english! What ever!

It is talking about In Game XMB. That is the title. XMB in game. Did you look at the thread title before you commented? Did you read any of the articles to which I linked? The PS3 doesn't do in game XMB where you can talk to people you are not currently in the game with but without leaving the game you pause and bring up the XMB and talk to other people on your friends list or those that message you or you message...in game.

DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT THE XMB IS?

EVERYONE IN THE PS3 COMMUNITY KNOWS ABOUT THIS AND COMPREHENDS THIS EXCEPT YOU. HOW DOES THAT FEEL? GO OVER TO THE PLAYSTATION BOARDS AND OPEN YOUR MOUTH WITH THIS OPINION AND YOU WILL GET A LOT WORSE THAN WHAT I TOLD YOU. Did you even read what i wrote? Besides it says once more (Talk with others DURING GAME PLAY) So whats that mean? Yup, as you playing a game, you can talk to other people in the game you playing with! What did i say about it? Emm, i think you go right over it, and right to your guns without a clue! If you want me to stop shooting things down and calling out all this Bull than you need to stop spreading it and maken it to easy! When i first repleyed to this thread i was in hopes you had something. I more or less just asked if that was it because theres nothing there you where saying that may have something to do with it! You shouldn't bother replying to any technical threads concerning the PS3 until you gain a modicum of understanding as to how the device works. A little reasoning and simple comprehension - the kind 3rd graders achieve - wouldn't hurt either. The fact you can't understand how the PS3 functions makes your claims of ownership highly suspect.

One of the most highly-requested features from PlayStation 3 owners since the console's launch is in-game XMB support. Access to friend lists and chat features from within a game would vastly improve the PS3's online performance and would help to bring the system closer to Xbox Live in terms of functionality. Thankfully, Sony reps have confirmed at CES that the update is coming this year.

Few details are available about an actual date or time frame, as Sony reps reiterated that the company's showing at CES was focused on hardware. Nevertheless, it's good to hear that Sony is moving towards a solution.

With all the recent Xbox Live problems, the PlayStation 3 has become a bit of a refuge from online woes for some. I've found myself more likely to jump into a game of Warhawk these days than try to fight through numerous disconnections and "could not join room" issues in Call of Duty 4 on the 360. If Sony could manage to push out this firmware update early in the year, it could be a big get for some gamers frustrated with Xbox Live.

Ok guys just agree to disagree.

This was all the buzz today on the ps3 forums. This coupled with the upcoming home features has the community really giddy. It may be an issue of reading into it more then people should but I don't think that is the case. I don't think sony would have tried so hard to take it down if it was talking about features it already had.

I know on the socom boards there was a discussion about developers needing to make better use of current xmb features and that discussion got lively again today as this news broke out. I think that the reason that so many people get excited about this news and features is because the majority of console players spend their time online, or even if they are playing single player they still want to be connected to the community and the addition of more features makes people really really happy. It's 2008 and it's the digital age. Everyone wants to be connected at all times. Heck I've gotten rid of my last two consoles (one of which was a freebie that I won) simply because of the fact that I don't have high speed in my area and I just didn't really use it that much because of that fact.

The xbox live features work great and are really fun to use so it's easy to see why ps3 players get excited over this stuff. Another thing that makes this a pretty credible story is that it has been announced that sony is working on xmb features, it just looks like it might be sooner then expected. My guess is that this conference next week is going to be great for followers.

Well dporter I would like to agree to disagree except I started this thread for the purposes of information. The result is an indivudual entering the post with zero understanding of the subject on which he was commenting did a very thorough job of muddying the waters. I would not have been so miffed were it not for the fact that in game XMB access and in game chat is the most discussed upgrade for the PS3. Period. It isn't rocket science. I refuse to give ground to someone that has no comprehension of this story that has the entire PS3 community waiting with baited breath.

Were people to act similarly in other threads on this board Rocky would be swinging the banhammer like he was Babe Ruth.

EDIT: I hate putting people on ignore but he didn't leave a sensible person a choice. At least it will divert any future problems or my wasting time explaing such matters to this individual when everyone in the community is clamoring about the XMB in game chat.
