If you had access to this, you'd be able to delete the channel with the music on it (assuming the creator added the music on a new channel, rather than pasting (re: 'mixing') it into an existing one) You could attempt to filter it out with noise reduction and various voice filters, but you should be aware that peoples' voices use alot of the same frequencies as music - if you apply a bass reduction filter to the whole thing in order to reduce the bass of the music, it will also reduce the bass tone of the voice. Needless to say, if you went down this road, the voice you're left with will sound distorted and won't have the same tones as a human voice. WytchDokta
Cheers mate I kinda guessed as much, what if I re record the sound file which I have extracted. What software would allow this?? Recording quality differs from program to program and format to format. You need to do some crazy volume level jiggery pokery in order to get better result. For example, using your favourite audio editing program, you can 'record'/rip the audio off ANY video on the internet or of your HD, provided you have the vid playing in the background while you are recording in the audio editng program. If you did this straight off, you'd get ALOT of distortion on your recorded file. Play the original video back again, then play your ripped audio from the vid and you'll see what I mean. You can get around this by playing around with your recording volume levels in Windows. There's a certain slider that needs to be retuned to a certain amount. I know how to do this to full effect so if you wish, hit me up through PM and I'll guide you through. How do you mean re-record here? Do you have the music and the voice as separate elements? If they are both mixed in together no amount of re-recording with any setting will fix it. What have you extracted? If you want, you can send the me the stuff and I'll take a look, then I can effectuate a possible solution for you. I am heading out for a beer or six very soon though so it might be a while before I can get back to you. Re-record not fade away. Re-record not fade away.... Colin
Too funny, yer the file was originally a video of swimming with a commentary in the back ground also music behind the commentary. I used Adobe premier pro to split the video from the sound, as I wanted to work on the sound, this can be done in this programme no probs. So I am left with an mp3 sound file that needs a doctor to extract the voice section, I will take you up on your offer, drop us a pm with your email and Ill send it over. I have been trying to do this for about 4 hours and Im all out of ideas. I thought if I re recorded the file in a software programme straight from my speakers I might be able to sort it but you say no, thats cool. Ill just dump it on you. Thanks for the help mate really appreciate it.

It seems like the music is on the same channel and the voice, from what you are saying. Sure, I can drown the music out, to an extent, but if I go further than this extent, the voice distortion will become more. What you might end up with is the voice audible at normal volume and the music still audible at a very low volume, there is a way to do that.
