suggestion: start a GRAW3 thread?

Recommended Posts

To tell you the truth I could really care less about a new game. I just wanna know whether or not we're getting a patch because I'm too frustrated with GRAW 2 at the moment. Same old maps. Usually only play maps 1 2 3 and 7 on SP. I just wanna gouge my eyes out with a spoon in mission 4. I don't know how I beat it in the first place. One thing I'd like to see fixed is the Get Me Rosen mission which is #7. At the end the chopper always goes away. So yeah I could really care less about GRAW 3 at the moment. If it's anything like this game, it's gonna bomb. Curious to see whether they'll stick with ACUs or go back to Multicam. I like ACU's but the Special Ops team in Transformers was wearing Multicam and I wouldn't be surprised if they went back to multicam because of that, being a big Hollywood movie and all.

and it will be the last in the Mexican desert trilogy.
I can hardly wait to hear what that storyline would be.

we'll all buy GRAW3 I know it. I know myself too well. I say I won't...
...and then 10 minutes later you post that you will, which in turn is followed by a retraction, etc., etc., etc.

Anyone who says they won't buy GRAW3..

Won't buy GR:AW3? Sign me up, put me on record.

I won't...whoever develops it.

Well it's not about the I will never buy a UBI again I believe, since I've seen true UBI haters still buy GRAW/GRAW2, heck I've even seen someone make a 180 degree turn...lol

What matters is that there comes a game that is better than GRAW2, which is a good game IMO though only for a happy few.....

There's enough rumours, there's rumours about new better game engines, there's rumours about who is developing what.

I think UBI should stick with GRIN but increase their budget and, more improtant go back to the map-packs..... The COD series for PC is likely turning out the way consoles get treated, which means a new game every year, incompatible with the last one so you have to buy it.... Give me a graw3 with 2 mappacks and good mod-tools and I be happy for another 4-6 years!

Any future appearances of CPT Mitchell and his cyberwarriors will be overhead. You'll have to mine tacos and burritos to buy an upgrade from Mexican Rebel to 'Ghost', and get the anime-wannabe paintball mask for the former-male-cheerleader-turned-green-beret.

Probably closer to the truth than any of us would like *shudders*

One thing is for sure though: It's put up or shut up from Ubi from now on. They simply can't be trusted. We'll believe it when they deliver and not a second sooner.

Is it that obvious yet? I HATE UBISOFT IN THE FACE!

Speaking of which: Patriots-Jets: 20-10. How did the Steelers do?;)

Ouch. I mean, really, OUCH...

The Steelers, bless their little hearts, choked on their final home game of the season and lost to a virtually talent-free team, giving up a career running game to their opponent. Call it the FORMER #1 defense in the NFL. I still love 'em, but the choke artists thing is losing it's novelty...

I actually feel a bit guilty kicking someone lying down, but it was just too juicy to pass on. But then again, you're man enough to handle a little friendly ribbing. And I'm sure you'll sound off if the Pats trip up ;)

But what if Ubisoft really made a "good old" kinda GR game next? Would you forgive and forget? Not that it's going to happen (Osama Bin Laden converting to Hinduism is probably more likely) but still?

RSE will probably make GR4. They should take a leaf out of COD4 books and make 2 ames in one. Although at ever greater extremes of the spectrum.

Arcade nonsense option ala GRAW2 and a hardcore option ala [GR].

Arcade - run and gun on sectioned off parts of the maps

Harcore - realism on open maps.

One game, 2 different angles. Think GR meets Timesplitters 2 meets OFP.

Yup, Hardcore mode is the way to go. However, it's still a bit arcadey when you compare it to [GR].

I also believe the next installment in the GR series will be handed off to The RSE UBISoft division - I have for a while now. I also believe it will most likely be a direct port ala R6:Vegas and Vegas2 when it hits. It's been hinted at for the last few months on the Official UBI forums. Colin posted that it was pretty much a given that GRIN wouldn't be doiing the next installment. Then he made posts like would a direct port be acceptable. Now Kimi (I don't know whether to feel happy or sorry for her) has been employed by UBI to be the RSE Community liason in all the forums INCLUDING the PC forums. I think that's a pretty good indicator who is taking the helm in the development department and NOT a good for the series IMO.

I'm dreading the 3rd person view and/or the Gears of War/Vegas cheating cover system. I'm pretty sure you can bank on those being added to the game. The question will remain, if RSE does do it, will they gimp the game like Vegas without a decent usable dedicated server or even include a map editor.... Man, I think things are going to get really ugly...

Flim, if you're right then we're screwed. Unless RSE comes back and gives us an oldschool GR, I doubt many people will buy the next game. I'd say 50 max. Cause if it's a direct port from the console versions, that would mean it would be in 3rd person. I couldn't see any hardcore PC GR fans buying that. I could say something messed up but I think it would just be too wrong.

I suspect you're right about that. Though hardly the old school GR1 style game I want, it might be a pretty good game in its own right. Vegas PC was, but...

(Pay attention Kimi:) For crying out loud, do the port properly. I don't ever want to see a shooter game like Vegas where I can't configure the mouse and keyboard exactly the way I want it. The MP gamers have a few issues as well. They're important.

Going for the action shooter style game like Vegas is a fair decision (even though it's not the game I really want), but sloppy porting is just poo-pooing the customers.

Sorry to go off like that (nothing personal Kimi, as I'm sure you know :) ), but that port was really way below RSE standards.

Remember the Xbox and PC versions of Ghost Recon and Island Thunder were almost identical. So making the same game for both machines doesnt have to mean an unrealistic arcade game. If the next GR isn't a step back to its roots then I think Ghost Recon is dead. Never has a series been so diluted from its original concept.

I'd beg to differ. There are a LOT of games that became dumbed down, diluted, or so different from the original it's almost sad. Deus Ex: Invisible War, MechWarrior 4, Doom 3, GRAW/GRAW 2, Unreal Tournament 03 and 04, MechCommander, the Army Men games (remember the cute little green plastic guys?), Soldier of Fortune 3, Worms, Mortal Kombat Armageddon, Sonic, Medal of Honor Airborne, Duke Nukem platformers, and Mario Sunshine (even Nintendo has had this problem) all come to mind rather quickly as having/being crappy sequels. Some eventually went in the right direction (Mario) while others will probably never be the same (Worms, Soldier of Fortune).

And its hard to find the formula.

One of my favorite games of all time was Mega Man 2. It was the EXACT SAME GAME as Mega Man 1, but it was Better. Mega Man 3 - XXIII have all be disappointing as developers seek to reinvent was perfection.

Same with Rainbow Six. Good and interesting game. Completly blown away by the gem that was Rogue Spear. Then fell apart as the makers attempted to "add something". Or maybe its that the devs think we'll tire of the same game with different pictures...

But honestly, if they had continued to make more exapnsions to [GR] (Desert Siege, Island Thunder), I would have kept buying them. The game flat out worked. Eventually, the graphics would have been too dated. At that point, go to the drawing board and come back with something that plays the same and looks better.

I don't need a sequel to be better than its predecessor when the original is best thing. I also don't need to play a movie plot. Splinter Cell works in that way. But the Ghosts can survive just completing a series of somewhat unrelated missions.
