Media Player and Mp3's

Recommended Posts

Ok I am like completely stumped here. Since my Windows XP knowledge is limited right now I thought I would see if anyone here has this problem. When I try to play any MP3 on either Windows Media Player 9 or Winamp 3, if I move my mouse or use the scroll wheel the music speeds up in proportion to how fast I move either of these two items. Has anyone else ran into this?

System specs are as follows in case you are wondering:

AMD 700 Duron

Biostar MOBO w/Via chipset and updated drivers

256 megs ram

Nvidia GE Force2 MX/400

SB PCI

DX 9.0a

Win XP Pro w/sp1

I havn't installed WMP9 yet, but I think it does support playback speeds, could your mouse somehow be mapped to activate that function? Did you look in the Media Player options for Playback Speed yet?

This problem actually started out with Windows Media player 8 and I upgraded to WMP9. When it was still occuring with WMP9 I tried Winamp 3 and it does it there too. :wall::wall::wall::wall:

Not between the two. Mp3's played on both but at seperate times create the same problem. As I said before the problem started with Windows Media Player. I then tried Winamp and got the same exact problem.

Well thanks to several hours of work with Snakebite and Phantom we figured out my problem. It was a total lack of resources as my system apparently can not handle windows xp. Thanks to those who posted suggestions and questions. For those who are wondering how we determined that my system wouldn't handle xp well lets just say it was my pcpitstop score. A score that doesn't belong here but rather in the humour forum.

Since this is about WMP9 I thought I'd post my problem here since ur has been solved :D, instead of starting a whole new thread. Ok, recently my computer kind of restored it self back to the way it was a few months ago, as if I had ran system restore. When this happened ALOT of programs stopped working, but all I had to do was uninstall them then reinstall them. Except WMP9.

Now when ever I try to run it I get an error saying: "An internal application error has occured". I can't uninstall it because its not in the remove programs list, nor could I find it in my system registery (). When ever I try to reinstall it, it says: "A previous installation has been detected." and doesn't install. Any help pls? I've had no problems in the past with WMP.

Also when my system got resotred (Don't know how, my mam said she came on and clicked yes to a message that came up, with out even reading it.) IE got downgraded, when ever I try to reinstall it, I get a message saying: "Ap revious installation of Internet Explorer 6 has been detected". :( Any help pls....
