Rocky 1,224
At 9am this morning I suddenly felt the tip of my middle fingle go "tight", I checked it out and it had gone solid, the pad was absolutely rock solid and puffed up. I could not close my fist. About 5 minutes later the end was purple, but it never really extended past the first joint. This evening I think it is a it better, the photo doesn't really show the disclouration to well, but you can get the idea. What could cause that, I defiately did not knock it, it just sort of happened!
Cpl Ledanek 247
Questions: 1) did you sleep on it? 2) when you first noticed, when you touched it, did you feel anything back from said finger? 3) any redness concentrated on one area? 4) any pets in the room? possible tick bite...if there is a symmetric circular redness...if not move on 5) from purple coloration, how long before color dissappeared/ to current color/ 6) could you flex it completely? is it more or less than 50%flexibility? are any of the other fingers experiencing same symptoms? 7) any foreign objects possibly embedded? 8) did you cut your fingernails recently? any redness around the fingernails? did you cut too close? 9) did Mrs Rocky spank you and you were too drunk to remember? 10) when you say "tight" was it warm to touch or cold? I'm not a doctor, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn....American Commercial Rocky.... Try this: Warm compress for 30 minutes, excercise till it gets tight, reapply warm compress...if some discomfort, apply cold compress for 30 min, flex, reapply warm compress. Repeat. Try half a dose of muscle relaxant, non-steriodal, anti-inflammatory (Advil, Motrin), NO ALCOHOL, with food....continue compress. Total consultation fee: FREE ok, maybe a freebie
Nailbomb72 0
Mmm, I'm no doctor, but that looks like it might be your right mouse button finger (assuming you're right handed). In which case I'd say you've been brining up your Scope or alt Fire too quickly or too often. I recommend a driving sim or game for a few days until your finger retruns to normal. My consultation fee is $55 inc. GST, but you can claim back $22.00 on Medicare.

Metal_Jacket 0
9) did Mrs Rocky spank you and you were too drunk to remember? My guess is that there might be some truth in that quote. Rocky, you should go to your doctor to have a look at your finger. I suggest when you show your middle finger to the doctor, do not have your other fingers clenched, he or she may take offence. Seriously, please keep us informed.

Rocky 1,224
This morning it looked like someone had taken a hammer to it, brown sort of bruising all the way around. Also the tip was cold. I went to the docs and luckily enough there was a cencellation in 20 minutes. The doc basically shrugged, had no idea what caused it "something inside" was about as technical as it got. I can fully clentch the first now so the swelling is gone, I guess it was just a freak blood leakage of some sort that has healed up inside. Wierd. As a couple of people have pointed out, it is my right mouse button finger though, so it does see a fair bit of use
=EP_Geez 0
Rocky Do you use the mouse alot? When you use the mouse do use some sort of support for your wrist? If you do use the mouse alot and don't use a support with is then you should not use the mouse for about a week and use a support bandage.
Cpl Ledanek 247
...did he dr do an x-ray? he/she should have done that at least. make sure nothing is subluxed. you really shouldn't dismiss a blood clot/leakage coz it could be a sign/symptom to something. not sure about your age and family history, but I also don't wanna raise an over-alarming concern but, but blood clot maybe a symptom to poor blood circulation. hence, some have ask if your wrist is supported when using mouse. did the dr check around the nail? don't let it pass a week. get a second opinion if signs/symptoms doesn't subside. He didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express (that is the commercial, not Holiday Inn though both are under the same company), but he does work at a hospital and is intimate with doctors and nurses. Take his advise and get another opinion and maybe have an xray taken. Better be safe than sorry my friend.

KRP 56 92
Looks and sounds just like what my girlfriend had about a month ago. She had one of the Doctors at work take a look at it and he said it was an infection that may have gotten into the tip of her finger around the fingernail. Gave her some antibotic cream and pills and that cleared it right up.
Deadpreacher 2
You know Rocky what i have done to my hands right? I have had countless surgrys over the years and still going. Anyways i really have no clue what it is, but i have seen my same finger but on the left hand do the same thing before. Again this is just me and may not be the same as yours. I tore a tendon, a part of my tendon at the tip of the finger at therpy. The tip of my finger swelled and turned colors like yours. Than a day later it kind of looked like you could see the tendon outline from the finger to the palm like i see in your pic. Now just by looking at your pic it looks like the same thing that happened to me. Yet it could be anything for you! Does it hurt? Mine didn't i just felt a small tear or tickel and that was it. Only the swelling was uncomfortable, but not painfull. Also like the others said you better get it looked at again and maybe at least get some pills to keep it from getting anymore infected!
