Minimizes to tray bar

Recommended Posts

The problem is caused by resolution changes, which happens every time I transition from the main menu to game, or visa versa. This started when I accidentally hit the "help" button on my xbox360 controller, causing the game to minimize to the tray bar. Ever since then I've had this issue, so it seems to me it triggered a change in my display settings. I checked all the display settings I could think of, starting with refresh rate, and I see no changes.

I also assume that the fact that the game doesn't support "Alt/Tab" has something to do with the problem, which is basically what happened when the gamepad accidentally minimized the game.

I believe the driver settings were possibly effected, because last time this happened (after an identical gamepad incident) when I reinstalled the video drivers the problem was gone. I'll reinstall them again as a last resort.

I can still play the game, I just have to quickly doubleclick the screen each time I attempt to maximize it from the tray bar, but that's getting old very fast.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

 Im confussed

Xbox controller? Alt/tab support ?

What version of Ghost Recon are you playing ? and on what system ?

I'm using the 360 controller with all my PC games. The 360 controller is for the console and Windows. The large center buton will open a Help window which minimizes the game. Once that happened, GR started having problems staying maximized whenever the resolution changes, which of course happens every time you go to and from the menu which is 640X480 or something like that.

Like I said, updating my drivers solved the problem last time, but since it is doing it again, it's obviously not a driver issue, it seems like a setting or some value was altered when the game was abruptly minimized by the gamepad. And reinstalling the vid driver apparently gives you a fresh start for your display settings (or possibly registry value?)

have you tried simply rebooting windows? maybe some service or app was started when the 360 controller help window appeared. I use the 360 controller too but I'm affraid to try to duplicate your issue because I don't want to get stuck with the same problem, lol.

That seems to have done the trick! I'm embarrased it was that simple but I'm certainly glad it was! Thanks man.

^^ LMAO  I was thinking the same thing.... I am loosing it XBOX controllers on your pc with Vista? Thats possible these days with Microsoft ruling the bussiness?

lol

Yeah the 360 controller comes with windows drivers. I use it with XP, and I use a game profiling utility called Pinnacle, and there's basically nothing you can't do with it. You don't have the lightning fast mouse movement, but I don't play my tac shooters as twitch games so I don't miss it. Proper squad tactics eliminate the need to look everywhere at once, so I don't need insane mouse speed.

Glad you got it fixed bro; always include rebooting as an early troubleshooting option. definately before you reinstall anything!
