WytchDokta 6
Finally, the new rig has arrived. Note the word in italics - it's very important, considering I ordered the rig on August 28th and was told it would be despatched on 3rd September. But see, it's a barebones system so I had to order somthings like the graphics card separately. One of things I ordered separately, a round IDE cable, continued to elude my grasp for over a month though. I keep checking the stock status of this item online, and eventually it read that it was in stock on 29th September! Yay, my rig was due to be despatched once the item came back in stock, so later in the day on the 29th September. Or so it seemed. I have to admit it did seem odd, as the 29th was to be a Sauturday. So, I waited until the following Monday before I called their customer services. Ironically, the stock status of the item still ready 'due September 29th', yet it was 1st October already. I was told the cable was due in stock later that day. So I waited, got into the evening and still no email to say my order had been despatched, and, the stock status of the item had then changed to 'due today'. So the next day, still no sign of the status changing and still nothing to say my order had been despatched, I decided to call them up again. This time I was told the item would be in stock the following day. Then their online team changed the item's stock status to '3 due in 1-2 days'. I was also told they would call me back the folowwing morning to confirm the date the item would be back in stock for definite as they were a little uncertain. It was at this moment I also decided to email them about the issue. I was never to recieve a reply to that email. So along comes the next day, and at lunch time there was nothing, no phone call, no updated item status, just nothing. It was time to call them up AGAIN. Then I was told the item was due in the following day. The stock status of the item was to contradict customer sevices yet again, this time it had been changed to blank, that's right, no text telling its status. Anyone else see a pattern emerging here? This was going around in cirlces and being that I'd ordered it from one of the top companies this is not the level of service you'd expect. I could feel my blatantly-faked-written-only-tourettes-syndrome coming on again. In fact, I was like this (click it), from 00:17 onwards, due to the situation at hand. BTW, that's a good video to learn proper English from if you're not English. So, it was time to raise the bar in my 'Kunnin Planz'. I took this situation to their forums. I had great difficulty in holding off the urges to write a snotty post, and more over, greater difficult to hold off my blatantly-faked)-written- only-tourettes-syndrome-using-the-terminology-exclusively-from-the-vid-I-just-linked-to. Somehow I managed to keep it civil though. The next day (yesterday), there was two replies from staff within the company, both of them forum admins and something to do with customer services (I think one might be head of customer services or something). They had sorted the situation out: due to the fact I'd ordered the stuff on finance, they wouldn't normally part-ship orders, but in my case, they made an exception - they explained that they would get together all the instock items in my order (the remainder of the order; the only out of stock item was the IDE cable) and do their best to get all of it despatched to me that afternoon. They would despatch the seemingly out of stock but not IDE cable to me once it was back in stock, and meanwhile, they had included another round IDE cable (different model to the one I ordered) free of charge for all the inconvenience. So the stuff arrived before lunchtime today. I've only got round to installing the graphics card, hard drive & sound card so far. I knew 8800's were big/long, but not that long. when I pulled that out of it's back I almost had a heart attack! And it only just fit in the case. I've got a busy weekend at work so I probably won't have it fully up & running until Sunday night. Just got to install the new PSU and a couple of other things along with all the cabling then she'll be good to go, I hope, provided she don't go bang when I first switch her on. Knowing me, I'll plug all the wrong cables in the wrong places so my bro will help me with that. I ordered some more stuff with another company a week or so agaon, I now have a clear side panel for the case, and the clear side panel has a huge 230mm (23cm) fan! So some custom fan filter creation work may be in order. So when she's up & running, I'll get some pics up here and introduce you to the Nephariouz One. That is, right after I finish my Saw IV promo sig - I got priorities you see. (we just took on a new guy at work named Micheal, the first thing I said when I was introduced was: 'Hello Michael, do you want to play a game?' in true Saw II style ) Oh BTW, the mobo is the ASUS M2N4 SLI. So I'll find out what RAM this can take so I can upgrade the stock PC-667 RAM that came with the bundle. Edited October 5, 2007 by WytchDokta
