ROCO*AFZ*
A downloader is nice. But in my experiences with GRAW1. Servers still failed with mods. Perhaps because It made you restart your game. But what about the server full bug? we would be running max players then a modded maps would load. For some crazy reason the server still shows as full. and YES. I did update the server list. we have had ppl shut their game off. download the mod. Instal the mod. Re-launch and it says they cant get in. Server full. when in all actuality there is only like 5 of us in the server. If this don't get fixed... downloader or not. random mods thrown into the cycle will fail. Ever notice you join a mod server and its showing like 4-5 ppl in it. You get in and everyone is gone. They were there. But It takes too long for the server to recognize they are no longer there. I call it the server full bug for mods. One of the issues with this was ... in GRAW1... the more mods you had, the slower it was to enter a game. I would have to take mods out so i could get in early like the rest of the peeps. Not sure if this is the same for GRAW2 but there is a crash issue with i think over 15 maps. Without an auto downloader, currently it is confusing. I went to play the dusk maps the other day, downloaded a dusk pack... it wasn't the right one (from gr.net) saw there was another pack, downloaded it. It was correct. Missed the 1st dusk map though while trying to figure out the right pack.I think the current map makers need to find a way to include the version # in the map name, like dusk_bsr_arroya_12.bundle. (Just made that maps up btw, but note the type "dusk" is in it, who made it "bsr", the map name "arroya" and the version # 1.2 (12). it would save in confustion and you could tell by the map name a lot of info. Also in the motd there needs to be the info of what custom packs are on the server so in case there is a 2nd, i can get it ahead of time, or the Server admins need to bundle up EVERY custom map they have into a zip pack. (i know modders won't like this but it is easier on us) Grin, maybe if you are thinking of an autodownloader... how about an option to download every map but stock from a server, but only install the one's you don't have. (in case you got them also from another server.)
th33f.
it should be obvious at this point, that ubi would rather lose all GR fanbase, than pay GRIN to make MP content that will be given away free. if there's a patch coming, i wouldn't count on it bringing any new maps, or even SP map conversions. quite ridiculous since the work is already done, yet we don't get the maps officially. i know somebody's gotten cut off before for saying GRIN has stopped reading our rants, but i think that sounds about right at the moment. all these outcries aren't going to affect a thing, unless ubi CEO's see a chance to fatten those wallets... one thing we can do is show interest in an expansion pack, which will probably be no less than $29.95... we need to make a topic purely for the expansion requests, where everyone begs for an expansion and describes his vision of its content all in one post. as long as the moderators keep everyone limited to one post, GRIN could just count up the replies, pass the number on to ubi and let them decide if it's going to happen. this might have to be done in the ubi forums though... hopefully Colin's up for the job. Fletch
fletch alot of the mission maps have already been converted. The problem is. NO ONE downloads them to play them. Patches create a frenzy.. everyone wants it. Mods. NOt so much. Must not be posted in the Downloads section then as I have (I think) every CoOp version there and all they did was add night or day to existing CoOp stuff, added Dam and Hacienda, plus a new version of Castle which is great. That still leaves about half the mission stuff not done as CoOp.

Papa6
whatever you think - or +, some planning of this game was missing or never thought of. GRAW1 had an editor with a front end. now we got a car frame with an engine and some tires. so they want to save a buck to make the game right? here should be an appropriate place to reiterate what I've said before, The SP campaign maps should've been used for MP mode. they made the maps so damn huge that, alot of it is wasted map. Of course, the ambiance of scenery adds some to the allure of it all. But RSE got it right by using the same SP maps for MP and that saved them huge masses of work. SP maps, immense and outrageously huge and the MP maps, small as my kids bedroom. one thing life teaches you is, KISS, "Keep It Simple Stupid". Alot of the maps should've been rural or forest. seems like they got some rural maps and then got stuck back in the city. Grin should've made the SP maps usable and available in MP mode
ita_killabees
there was a game. 6 years ago. u buy it, play a 15 mission campaign. then go on multi. u had 15 mission maps PLUS another 5 multiplayer maps. modes? Team Death Match, SOLO death match, Mission Coop, Firefight Coop, Recon Coop, Team Hamburger Hill, SOLO Hamburgher Hill, Cat and Mouse. Then 2 expansion pack came out, adding new weapons, new locations (desert, jungle), ecc. ecc. There were big maps (400m X 400) and small maps. Urban, desert, forest, jungle, day and night, raining and snowing. There was an excellent editor, to make great scripts (some crazy guys made a modification named HX where there they could add CAPTURE THE FLAG mode simply using well their brain an that editor! wow!). Tons of mods were made, for skins, models, weapons, vehicles, missions, single p and multi p skins. UBI lobbys where always full, whyle on ASE (All Seeing Eye) u ahrdly found empty servers. When laggin there were already restrictions (without need to ask the creators of the game) to take out explosives. Oh, i forgot, if u could shot someone's leg, that guy would have not run anymore, and, if u hit the arm or the hand, that guy would fire much worse and, awww, if a nade hurted someone at the head, and that guy luckily survived, he would shot even worse! thats the future! No, thats the past. 6 years ago.

No we wish we were, a few good alterations and it could be there hopefully Grin are taking good advice this time and not noob advice which they seem to have taken before. And most who are bashing the game like it in ways but want to make it better so more play it and so on. Grin have done well, if i had made a game like Graw i would be chuffed but we want more to keep it going Edited October 13, 2007 by JJUK
