Many people are getting crashes because Lightspeed with good intentions, included the standard version it in his bundle with the TRR maps. However if you already have it installed, it causes issues. Lightspeed Posted September 24, 2007 Share Posted September 24, 2007 (edited) missing maps? explain please. if u mean that some ppl cant get in the server bcoz they dont have the right maps then the reason is prolly cos some of u are running the beta and some of u are running the final release v1.0. click on news at the top of this page and clik on the link for the new trr final release to download the latest install. if thats not what u mean - then plz explain the error. i was playing in the xe server last night with maps on rotation and there were no issues at all. do u load more then 15 maps into the server at once - if so there is a bug re: + 15 maps but there is a fix for this error if someone can point him in the right direction thanks. ive tested the same thing on my server too. Lightspeed Posted September 25, 2007 Share Posted September 25, 2007 to be honest ill tell u the fix for all or these things............. either do a fresh install of GRAW2 or uninstall GRAW2 for good. these are not trrpack.bundle issues...if they were they would occur for everyone...and they don't. the only glitch i take responsiblility for is the incorrect file path which occurs when u have biros and my mod in the custom_levels folder at the same time. i have packed biros into my mod so all his types will work on servers running his version if u use the trrpack. all these bugs have never happened to me, and i dont think anyone really had those issues last night. unless ppl have messed with their GRAW2 settings or added other mods etc might create the conflicts but i dont believe my mod is causing the errors. i find it fairly frustrating that these bugs are out there and GRIN the game maker has nothing to say about these issues. this for example - "Unhandled exception - access violation" is a GRIN/GRAW2 bug i think. v frustrating Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Ok fair enough..we had no problem before we installed TRR and have no problems on our other server...I`ll try just uninstall TRR and see if it happens without the TRR maps in. So I am just piecing hte two together but completely understand how thay can or may not be a result of installing your mod. But our server is experiencing more drops and crashes with your mod then with out. This is a fact! But all in all SCE still has the TRR.bundle on our server and a lot of the guys are enjoying it. The tough thing is.. keeping it on if not many are playing it. So come on over to SCE's server and jump on.. One thing is for sure.. GRIN or UBI dropped the ball and it seems have DROPPED the ball.. If they would have included he multi spawn points and added the mission maps.. I am almost certain.. if these things where delievered stock.. a lot more people would be playing GRAW2 !!! If you want to join a server that isn't running that mod, you'll be kicked for altered files unless you re-edit that file again. Maps in the custom levels folder won't do that to you. All of my CSAR & AAS maps are in the custom_levels folder. They do not cause anti-cheat issues and they all contain identical files, but they do not cause crashes. Since I include everything (rules, settings, etc) in the bundle, they are not considered mods, I guess. Also, I give them game type specific names. Sure, the bundles are a little bigger than necessary, but since they are only xml's, the difference is negligible. So, what shared files cause the conflict? Does anyone know? As long as the path is unique, it should be fine. One particular example is this: In an earlier bundle I created a path to 5 different arroyo versions (folders). Such as: data/levels/custom_levels/arroyo_day, ......arroyo_dusk,...... arroyo_fog_day,...... arroyo_fog_dusk, and ......arroyo_night. In order to save some space, I also included a folder named arroyo to place all the shared files like: settings, load screens, minimaps, etc. Now, if I bundle anything else, or anyone else bundles something with any of these names, there will be an incompatibility. So, your map folders, and map names in your world_info will need to be unique. The one problem we are facing in the future is this. Biro did some excellent work on castle_day. In his bundle, he included the following folders: objects, textures, units. Now, should someone else do some custom textures, objects, units, etc., there is going to be a conflict between the two bundles due to shared folder names. The fact that the game won't see something in a "textures2" folder means that we are limited to those game folder names for those items. To alleviate the former problem, my maps in my mayhem bundles end with a letter "m", for example: arroyo_daym. It set's it apart from any other arroyo_day maps anyone else has or will bundle. The maps Rugg suggested do not have any compatibility problems with the games maps and do not change your game in any way. Also, I don't think the TRR maps are having an issue with any of the game's stock maps either. Try them, a lot of peeps are having a good time with them. As long as you just download and use custom maps you're fine, it's when you use mods is when you limit the servers you can join. If the instructions have you putting it into the custom_levels foler of your GRAW2, it's a map. If the instructions have you putting it into the "mods" folder, it's a mod. Lightspeed Posted September 26, 2007 Share Posted September 26, 2007 Lightspeed, could you be more a dick to Mik? just for the record Mik i wasnt being a dick to you - i was highlighting the frustration of GRAW2. how is it that 90% of ppl can play the download without issue but 10% get the issue? its clearly not TRR related - but rather a break down in Diesel code somewhere along the line or the ridiculous 'adding a mod' scenario. how can it be so difficult to import a campaign map into MP - why would or should it be buggy? why werent the campaign maps incorporated in the first place instead of a bunch of MP maps that seem completely unrelated to the *&%$ing game in the first place? so in the end - there was no sledge at you - the sledge is at a situation whereby i can mod 34 maps to increase the gaming for the GRAW2 players, change no weapons, add some sound code, and locations and it decides to work for most ppl but not for everyone else. ghey. so when i said reinstall GRAW2 or uninstall TRR i was being serious. ive put an average 4-6 hours per day into this mod for over 4 weeks - and was learnng GRAW2 modding prior to that - so thats well over 100 hours and what's it got me? a headache and a hijacker.
