Specter 0
Unfortunately, with the XP Firewall, there is either on or off. It's not really configurable. The XP Firewall is also built on Microsoft's ALG - or Application Layer Gateway Technology, which means that it blocks all apps, pretty much, aside from MS apps, any free access in or out past the firewall. It closes off all ports except for the basics, and the ones MS deems safe. The best thing you can do is turn it off when you want to play and turn it back on if you feel the need. If you have a router, you dont need the firewall. Its unnecessary. The NAT table in the router protects your network.
Stinger 0
Phantom has it down. If you have a router already then the XP Firewall wont be doing anything. XP's built in firewall is crappy and isn't effective at all really except for screwing over the user. Firewalls in router's help protect but they too can never stop a hacker/cracker for sure. So just turn the firewall off, you wont have any probs with hackers that you wouldn't with it on, and it will make life easier for you.
