Using Alternate Reload Sounds

Recommended Posts

I've been trying to find an answer to this question for some time now. Is there any way to make Ghost Recon use the xyz_rl.wav sounds? They're in the directories, they're in the effects.xml file, but they're not in the game. Very annoying.

It seems so simple, as though there should be a tag in the .gun file that would enable this. <ReloadSound>"xyz_rl.wav"</ReloadSound> or something. Of course, since Red Storm's programmers seem to enjoy teasing the mod community, I'm assuming that it's impossible. I'd love to be proven wrong, though. :D

You'd think they'd of done that, but no. Their reason is because they already utilize all the available sound channels for things and having reload sounds would extend beyond that. If you notice, they didn't even use their own. The reload sound is chosen by weapon type. Do a search here or at theplatoon.com in their forums. You should find a listing of what weapontype uses what files. You could then modify one of those

Well I've changed all of my weapon sounds...

I borrowed them from Raven Shield. :rocky:

The sound of the M16/M4 reload is what I used for the sounds of reload for the assult weapons. And the sound of the P-228 for the Pistols, etc...

And not just the reloads, I changed all the sounds for the proper ones, MP5SD, M16, M82-SD, etc... Oh and the sound of Changing weapons. Gawd that sound was annoying after hearing RvS's kewler sounds.

The only thing I haven't really worked on, is the Explosion sounds of the Frags. There are lots of them, like in water, in dirt, on concrete, on metal, etc... I'm sure I'll add those later.

Next would be to make your own voices and sayings for getting shot at and being shot. Also some of those lines they say @ a beginning of a mission.

I LOL when I hear some of them.

The original sound for the pistols reload is from the Origimiss Folder. That sound file is "w_m9_rl.wav". It appears to be the same one used for all Pistols.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The same goes for the SMG's and LMG's. The only problem is the game only will use one sound file "reload" for a type of weapon reload. As DonMiguel pointed out. Would be nice to have all different sounds for the proper weapon.

As for my MOD it's not like anybody's going to ever see my MOD's anyways so I'll use what I can. It turned out very well, in fact the volume sound of the trigger pull when you're out of ammo had to be increased just to hear it, (BTW "c_trigger.wav" is the same sound file for all weapons) but at least it sounds like real weapons, thnx to those great guys @ UBI and using thier high end sounds for the weapons.

I've actually fired some of the weapons, yes full auto, and they are on the spot and pretty accurate. :o=

Soryu...
