Hey guys, I'm working on my first mod for Ghost Recon...having a LOT of fun with it. I've got quite a bit of work to do with it, but I thought I'd share some initial renderings as well as a screenshot showing the awesome firepower of the Mk.19 Mod3.

Here are a few pics from 3DS MAX, the model is missing a lot of details I wish to add...but it gives you an idea of what I'm doing. The textures dont look great right now though (I spent 10 minutes throwing something together for a temp. bitmap).

In this last shot, I got anxious to try out the .gun file so I modified the OICW/GL with the Mk19 specs to see how the weapon "feels".

I'll post it when I'm done...

Just in case you are wondering, the Mk.19 is an automatic grenade launcher used by the U.S. Military. It fires a 40mm shell similar to that used in the M203 underbarrel grenade launcher. The main difference though, is that the Mk.19 can fire them in a cyclic or fully automatic mode.

Needless to say, the weapon performs amazingly against soft targets...especially against troops.

Here are some specs for it directly from the USMC's website:

Manufacturer: Saco Defense Industries

Length: 43.1 inches (109.47 centimeters)

Weight:

Gun: 72.5 pounds (32.92 kilograms)

Cradle (MK64 Mod 5): 21.0 pounds (9.53 kilograms)

Tripod: 44.0 pounds (19.98 kilograms)

Total: 137.5 pounds (62.43 kilograms)

Muzzle velocity: 790 feet (240.69 meters) per second

Bore diameter: 40mm

Maximum range: 2200 meters

Maximum effective range: 1600 meters

Rates of fire:

Cyclic: 325-375 rounds per minute :o=

Rapid: 60 rounds per minute

Sustained: 40 rounds per minute

Unit Replacement Cost: $13,758

Features: The MK19 40mm machine gun, MOD 3 is an air-cooled, disintegrating metallic link-belt fed, blowback operated, fully automatic weapon and is crew transportable over short distances with limited amounts of ammunition. It can fire a variety of 40mm grenades. The M430 HEDP 40mm grenade will pierce armor up to 2 inches thick, and will produce fragments to kill personnel within 5 meters and wound personnel within 15 meters of the point of impact. Associated components are: MK64 Cradle Mount, MOD 5; M3 Tripod Mount; and the AN/TVS-5 Night Vision Sight. The MK19 also mounts in the up-gunned weapons station of the LVTP7A1 model of the AAV and vehicle ring mounts.

Background: The MK19 was originally developed to provide the U.S. Navy with an effective riverine patrol weapon in Vietnam. A Product Improvement Program was initiated in the late 1970s resulting in the MK19 Mod 3.

Hmmm... the pics are showing up fine for me. If anyone else is having problems seeing the pics, let me know and I'll change the server they are hosted on. Maybe that'll work.

I meant it's just black. Maybe a lighter background colour?

Sorry.

Works for me.

Although I fidn it's always best to render in white. :)

This will be a crazy mod. I think you should set it up to work for MP. Me being the GL maniac I am, I know this'll be a mod on my machine.

Looks sweet so far, can't wait to see the texture on there!

I'm getting closer to having this model done. All thats left is to fine tune a few things and then model the tripod. After that is a few hours in photoshop to make the textures and I'm done...yay!

Here's a pic of the updated model:
