Jason Bourne
is there a way to apply multiple materials with fading or is the vertex colors and turbo smooth the only way ?
deleyt
Use multi/sub material in max. Apply vertexpaint for setting the blending seam. Setup your XML accordingly to reflect the materials used in 3D Studio. You've asked this question in another thread aswell. Link to the answer is there. Jason Bourne
i cant understand why someone who can use max would be thought of as someone who doesnt know how to use a search engine , especially google . i looked under many names and theyre not what im looking for . thz for the link , looks alot simpler that some other methods ive seen . Papa6
Jason Bourne, Deleyt is a 3dsmax'er by profession in real life. he knows what he is talking about. he says he knows this fella has asked a question before. He's simply stating how to find info on it. why is it, someone asks for help around here and then gets offended when someone answers the call? Deleyt is an authority on 3dsmax..BTW, click on the links under Deleyt's sig, you'll see he has great talent. instead of rubbing him wrong maybe you could be nice and he'd show you a thing or two. deleyt
Whoaa! Let's not get carried away here. Before this escalates, I'm in no way an authority on 3D Studio. The point I'm trying to make is that you can't expect everything handed out to you on a silver platter. You'll have to do some studying and experimenting of your own to get things going. And when you start asking questions purely related to 3D Studio (as the vertexpainter is), the best place for looking for an answer will be the 3D Studio sites and forums, hence Google. Admittedly, I was a little ironic but it did hold the right answer to your question. You won't find a lot about vertexpainting in this forum...yet. It will come over time when people start coming to grips with this engine and it's abilities.
Papa6
please don't mis-interpret what I'm saying. my comment about you being an authority is that, you areprobably one of the best 3dsm users out here on gr.net. i remember you telling me how you use it at work. just for the sake of argument, if someone used 3dsmax and it caused a fatal flaw in a house design that killed someone, and you were a witness, and the court finds that you use 3dsmax in your day to day job, you'd be acknowledged as a authority in the courts eye. I know you were only trying to help bro. it's just Jason seemed aggressive. and in no way did you give jasonB any negative feedback. You just tried to help him. some folks can't handle help i guess. you never implied he was unable to google. Jason Bourne
no its fools that pump out the " try google" response that ###### me off ... as if'n i havent tried it before and exhausted my efforts . try a real response , instead of "try google" it isnt ironic because nowhere in that link does it say google . and for the record if he uses 3dsmax for design visualization , he is in no way recognized as an expert in the field of archetecture . besides that i dont care if he MADE 3ds max he doesnt need to be a snot . i see the train and its horrendous ... the double decker Edited August 29, 2007 by Jason Bourne
DonnieDarko*AFZ*
Now, now children Deleyt could've maybe worded it better, but....it was concise and to the point, what more can you ask for? Move on
deleyt
I've worded it exactly as it was intended. no its fools that pump out the " try google" response that ###### me off ... as if'n i havent tried it before and exhausted my efforts . try a real response , instead of "try google" I gave you a real response. It's fools like yourself that miss a clue even when it's a simple "copy and paste". The search string I gave you results in at least 5 valid links to tutorials or explanations about vertexpainting. You got so worked up about "try google", that I doubt you actually tried it. I use it all the time. We all do. It's no disgrace. for the record if he uses 3dsmax for design visualization , he is in no way recognized as an expert in the field of archetecture . besides that i dont care if he MADE 3ds max he doesnt need to be a snot . For the record, I am an architectural engineer by trade (since 1993) and do architectural visualizations aswell (since 2006). That would qualify me as an expert in the field of architecture. Anyway, my intention was to help you out but clearly it wasn't appreciated, so I'll refrein from any future questions you might have. Hopefully someone else appreciates your aggressive attitude more then I do.
