In case you missed it in the other topic,

QUOTE(REN_KYA @ Aug 10 2007, 12:00 PM)

is there any fixes for the creative xfi cards from the cracking sounds and noises and sound loops and crashes from that when using extrem settings?

Answered by ROCO *AFZ*

That isn't a GRAW 1 or 2 issue.

#1 make sure you have the latest drivers as they need the newest openal support

#2 in your bios shut off memory excelleration.'

#3 if it's an earlier nforce (i think 590) there is no fix although i heard a bios upgrade fixes.

X-fi's are fine in GRAW with Vista and XP.

Although go to the manufacturers website for newer drivers then what they post in any of the blog.

i will try the bata drivers and see if they help thanks for the link

No problem, let us know. There are a few others i saw posting with issues like yours, and then of course there are one's that don't have any.

Sound Issues? - Main thread for this problem (workaround is to set to general software/medium)

http://www.ghostrecon.net/forums/index.php...165&t=44140

I picked up an Elite Pro and there's no difference from the Fatal1ty. Gonna try XP and then a different Mobo, but it's ONLY GRAW 2 that has issues for me. FEAR and BF2142 are crackle free.

Also, that page is over a year old. Latest drivers are on SB's site.

Vista x86 2.15.0002 30 May 07

XP 2.09.0007 30 Oct 06

i tryed every thing i there is to try ill just have use generic hardware high it seems to work ok on that setting

What's your OS? Here's my specs for comparison (they're in the other thread too, but I'm game for generating traffic and attention to this problem.):

Components:

DFI P965-S stock 266 or OC 413, BIOS 613 beta

E6400 stock 2.13Ghz or OC 3.3Ghz

2x1GB G.Skill DDR2-800 CL4

8800GTX stock 575/900 or OC 621/1000

X-Fi XtremeGamer (Fatality wo/ box) or X-Fi Elite Pro (plugged in last pci slot)

2x74GB ADFD Raptors in 2 stripes (Matrix Arrays)

2x250GB Hitachi 7K250's in a mirror

Pioneer DVR 212DBK SATA

PC P&C 610 Silencer

Stacker 810 w/ lots of cooling

OS/Drivers:

Vista x86 w/ all critical updates

Intel Chipset 8.2.0.1014

Intel Matrix Storage 6.2.1.1002

Nvidia 158.24 WHQL, 162.22 WHQL, 163.11 Beta

Creative SBXF_PCDVT_LB_2_15_0002

Settings:

Creative EAX/CMSS 3D on or off, all 3 modes (enter, game, aud crea)

GRAW2 EAX on or off, X-Fi on=crackle

Vista disable sound enhancements, allow exclusive use, etc (can't remember name...)

It's a kickass game when played w/ some buds @ a LAN or online, even w/ the wacky sound, hehe.

Yeah, I saw. But he mentioned trying beta drivers, which were mentioned on the blog.

As for openal:

* OpenAL32.dll version 6.14.357.22

* wrap_oal.dll version 2.1.8.1

Got em both in GRAW2 and System32. Regardless, sound ain't the only problem. I'll randomly crash out of SP w/ all sorts of errors. I'm thinking XP's where I need to be...
