Modeling & texturing problem

Recommended Posts

Been trying now for a number of hours to figure out how to model and texture an ammo belt but with no luck, it just ends up looking awful :wall: The thing I'm trying to do is the bit of the ammobelt seen inbetween the box on an M249 and the reciever.

Could anyone out there who knows how to do this nicely please give me any tips and hints? I'd be forever grateful!

Even better if someone would be so kind to send me a .max file + texture so I can have a look for my self, but that might be to much to ask for.

Thx in advance

Snow

I can't help you SnowFella, but if you find out, pass it along, I know for a fact that DTDWardenMac considers the M-60 to be his "great white whale" so to speak, he just can't get the belt/ammo to look right.

I have SU and the only thing is that he made individual bullets then put them where they needed to be. You could try making a generic bullet shape, then scale it down so it looks right.

That would take the poly count up quite a bit I think...might give it a shot though...aslong as I end up under 2000 I'm quite happy...bit high I know, but I'll have to live with that

True...but I'm planning on releasing this as a weapon mod in the coming future & I don't want the poly count to be all to high...Just the darn Elcan I made for the gun is around 500 polys...
