Tinker Posted February 23, 2008 Share Posted February 23, 2008 Spawned out in the open with a enemy tank plus a neutral tank in front of me. Neutral tank just sat there. Enemy tank turned turret and blew up neutral tank, then turned back for me after! Could be useful. Ok. Then it checks for anything not in the same slot then. So no civilian "neutrals" then. Does the ghost AI also kill the neutral one? Not that it seems. I found the Coop AI problem. I forgot that the US side units need to be slot 2 in MP and the Mex side slot 5. Only Demolition and Anti-Tank can do it.The Marksman, Demo, and AT kits were tried with the same result. One additional glitch was with AT kits (4-6) equipped w/Predator as primary...the reload sequence would cycle continously after the round was fired, instead of the slot being disabled. I thought maybe it was because the inventory_slot of the u_predator.mp.xml reads "backpack" and not "primary", or maybe a gui_slot change in the ext_templates.xml, but there seems to be something else hanging it up. Just changed all 3 unit type slots to 2 in the u_mp_new.xml. Progress thru the level is alot slower this way. EDIT: Sorry, that was poorly worded, it's not a reload sequence but the act of shouldering/unshouldering the (now invisible) weapon that cycles until you toggle a slot switch. And just to futher complicate matters, not before but once the round is fired the Predator suddenly appears in the Items slot, as well as in the Primary, empty. Gonna have to check that Predator. Only put it in primary so it would be visible in kit selection, but if it won't work properly I'll move it back to backpack. Shouldn't be reloaded and that could be the problem... But it should detect that you have no more round so shouldn't try to reload at all... I'll have a look at it. As there is only room for 4 Ghosts in the helicopters, the other 2 kept spawning outside and fall down. But on M02 it worked as you go in by foot. Also made sure that everyone is not just Sergeant anymore, and everyone has some specialty in the team even though they are the same in the game. Removed the military service background for now. Hume will be using the guillie suit, while Allen will stay like the other Ghosts. I'll leave the 6 man team stuff in and turned on in Campaign Coop, but limit the team to 4 in SP so it doesn't mess up the vehicle insertions/extractions and some other campaign stuff I'm working on. Because of this I had to adjust the GUI a little for that as well... and with the list of Ghosts getting longer it is now a problem to play at 800x600 and 960x600. So I guess I'll try to remove those options if I can, which I probably can't. CAPTAIN SCOTT MITCHELL – TEAM LEADER DoB: 08/13/76 - AGE: 38 Scott Mitchell is a professional soldier. Kirkland is very outspoken and not afraid to speak his mind in any situation. Also unlocked the AGEIA mission for SP and Coop play now... For those that think they have hardware for it. Looked into the Predator problem, but couldn't fix it right now at least so I've switched to the normal backpack version. It's still there but just won't show in the kit selection. More than likely people would have complained about spawning in with it as Primary. ____ One thing I always wanted to get into :AW (but never could) was an additional Ghost Team(#2) button, with the same abilities to expand, give orders to, etc., as the first, but with additional teammates. Repositioning the Support Unit slots in the GUI was not a problem but something always went south when the Tac Map was pulled up. Do you think something like this would now be possible in :AW2? ____ Did you edit or recreate the atlas.dds to reflect the Ghost additions? But I have made any new ones, right now it has the AGEIA ones and the normal ones side by side. Which gives 7 unique portraits right now, and the remaining 5 uses duplicates. Team #2... Maybe possible. I'm sure it would require quite a bit of recoding though. May look into that later when the rest on my list is done and working. A Ghost team led by MSG Parker, fought their way to the sniper's position and took out any remaining threats and extracted the team."/> The reason you guys see a mixture of branches of service is that the Ghosts fill their ranks with operators from other special operations units. You could be Army, Navy, or Marine, and the Ghosts would still recruit you. The idea was to give the operators a background that shows how they progressed from other units and shed a little light on some past missions they have done. I wanted there to be a link between Hume and Allen because they are the two snipers on the team and I wanted there to be a history. I also gave Parker more of a personality and a bit of leadership qualities that seemed to be lacking in some of the characters. The most important thing is showing them to have served in different countries while in other units and the Ghosts. I wanted to show the Ghosts as being part of the war on terror and that is why I added it in some of the bios. That's it and that's all. No profile, no background, and for Gods' sake, no squids. Yeah, its true that some people do not care, but I like having the characters have a background. What would be the point in having a character, if you are not willing to have story of the character. bugkill Posted February 26, 2008 Share Posted February 26, 2008 (edited) Ok, here is what I got: I updated the ages, but I made a few changes that I want you to think about: - MSG Parker is not going to be a automatic rifleman because as the ranking NCO in the Ghosts, he would be in a Team leader (Team Sgt) slot. - Would be best to assign team leaders instead of stating what position they are in, For example, I made Parker a Team Leader and not a demo specialist or automatic gunner. It would be nice to pick two team sgts (my choice would be Ramirez and Parker) and split the rest of the squad. You could then assign each member to a team (like Alpha team or Bravo team) and have the position show like this: CPT Mitchell Position: Ghost commander BRAVO TEAM: MSG Parker Position: Bravo Team leader SFC Brown Position: Automatic Rifleman, Bravo team SSG Allen Position: Sniper, Bravo team SSG Smith: Position: Rifleman, Bravo team SSG Jenkins Position: Communications, Bravo team ALPHA TEAM: SFC Ramirez Position: Alpha Team leader PO1 Rivera Position: Demolitions, Alpha team SSG Hume Position: Sniper, Alpha team SGT Beasley Position: Rifleman, Alpha team SGT Kirkland Position: Grenadier, Alpha team I'm not very big in giving them titles like grenadier or automatic rifleman because in a unit like this, guys will be able to fill out most of those roles. In any SOF unit, most guys will be cross trained in each specialty. That is why you will see many operators with sniper training, commo training, etc. Each team member will have a taste of the other memebers assigned job, but I will leave that up to you to decide. And because of that I want to have 2 of each of the special ones and put the rest as riflemen, more like in GR1. But also give everyone a specialty so Mitchell can select which ever members are most suited for each mission and bring them. Because Mitchell is the leader of his team, which consist of all the Ghosts listed (in the original game). Then there is the Bravo team, which appears in mission 8 in GRAW2 for example. And another team lead by one of the characters from GR2 (and including some more characters from that game) was in GRAW1 and got killed. I'm just adding more ghost to select from for each mission, now that I've added more restrictions in how their kits can be setup as well. We can push Parker down a notch to SFC is that works better. I just figured that he's around 40 years old so should more be seen as a veteran then the rest, which is why I made him the team Quartermaster as he reminds me of Sloe in Tears of the Sun. Cross training is good, and quite common in SF units I've interacted with. But even so, the leader usually have a knowledge on who is best at what to be able to select the right people for the right job. This is one reason why I'd like to give them that kind of extra info. Right now there will be no difference from the original Ghosts. But I've given them different values for all stats in case I get time to try and implement them some more. First I'm gonna make sure that you can't get a dead Ghost back during the campaign. This is one of the reasons I wanted more Ghosts as well, so that the player can actually kill them off during the campaign so you have to think a little more about how big a team you bring and how you use them. I know M01 is quite small, so it may not be a problem on that map, but I'm quite interested in how people peoples hardware handle the double draw distance. Is it's too heavy on the larger missions I may have to lower it a little again to maybe 200 or 250m. Wolf, I run the game with the following settings... Average FPS* range with Wolfsong's mod: 4-30 Average FPS* range with Brettzie's mod: 32-66 So basically, I think the draw distance increase is effectively cutting our frames in half. I wouldn't mind playing around with it myself and testing each mission to guage a nice draw-distance balance.
