FatmanDaz
I've just played a server with this guy in. At first didn't think too much as I hadn't seen his name posted previously but someone kept trying to vote kick him, with no luck. He dropped me a few times with the M99, then we ended up on the same team. From spawn I watched him rattle of a dozen or so nades from his MRC. Recalling the ban post I tk'd him (didn't get booted) and picked up the MRC, sure enough unlimited ammo on the gun and nades!!! I then spent the next 4 -5 respawns tk'ing him until someone changed the server to auto kick tk's This is a novel approach to dealing with cheaters. If he can't play for being always TK'd (without the TKer being kicked him or herself), then maybe he or she will decide it isn't worth trying to cheat and TKing all the time as he is always on the sideline. Now this may be wishful thinking, but still funny. How long was it before he finally tired of being TKed before he left the server? Problem was, he didn't tire..... Whoever was running the server couldn't have known how to ban him, just kept kicking him from time to time plus he got kicked when he tk'd me Withing seconds of being thrown out he was back in and upto his usual tricks. Played this way for a good hour before I left the server and he seemed to have no issue at all with being kicked / restarting.
Korpen.vU
*sigh* Miss GRs replays. Then it was alot more easy to check if it´s skill or someone that have to buy theirs.. As I remember it 99% of the ones you checked was just skilled, could teach you something, using comms, got lucky or just had a field day of their life. As in any sport, there are some amazing players out there. Pls, b4 you start shouting about cheats, gather the evidence. Without evidence its just nothing more than your oppinion. I´m sure GRiN will check up on the auto-grenaders and semi-auto-.50´s.

Sally
I can confirm the observations that have been made on the player that has been mentioned. I just came across this forum, so I posted there first: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/2...13/m/8671073975 From my perspective the guy used the mentioned full auto sniper rifle hack, unlimited ammo, speed hacking, wall hacking/radar (knowing where you are). He was still killable though. It's really a shame, it looks like the client is able to send just any data to the server, it looks like there are no real sanity checks . For me knowing that such cheats exist basicly means the end of playing the game, the guy is doing it the obvious way, but what about someone who just uses some kind of wallhack? The PB vs Grin AC discussion is not constructive, I'd say every feature helps. With the unlimited ammo, maybe he is just doing resupply but just anywhere on the map, the server should check if there are any resupply vehicles on the map and if the player is near it. I don't want to spend my free time on checking more into this issue, e.g. analyzing the protocol that is being used to transmit client commands, but I have the feeling that it has been poorly implemented and I'd be happy if Grin could prove me wrong and provide something to get rid of the cheats. PersianImmortal
Well after several rounds of playing extremely well, I just got accused of cheating myself by a member of a known clan. Obviously I wasn't cheating (nor even exploiting or using cheap tactics like spawn camping), I was using my favorite weapon the MP5SD (low recoil, low sound, fantastic weapon), and good tactics like using my ears, and flanking snipers and shooting them from behind or above. But because there is no way to prove someone is or isn't cheating, the accusations of cheating alone are starting to grow and become very annoying. It's not the end of the world, but it would be nice if there was some way of proving you aren't cheating, such as replays or people being able to spectate from your view in TDM for example. It's not the end of the world, but it would be nice if there was some way of proving you aren't cheating, such as replays or people being able to spectate from your view in TDM for example. We have spectator's although only available via time out spawn and no team swapping, but good point but a clever cheat can out do spectators by playing carefully, the hand is quicker than the eye, for example: the hacker the other day with the auto M99 and Auto tube weapons and what ever else he had. Could play a slower game and not fire the M99 as semi auto or tube 6 players one after another to draw attention. The only real way is with a 'kill cam' (as COD) and by file check too, checking critical files, which is what grin has led us all to believe, but it has failed. The one thing cheats/ hackers strive for is to be top of the stack, and this is where the light of suspicion shines because no player no matter how good, will be top of the stack game after game. Any one that says they are, well judge for yourself, (you can not be in the right place at the right time every game). p.s. joke for PI Hey they must of fixed that M99, cos now tactics and a silenced MP5 can wipe them out !!! Whoooo. I knew that other thread was a load lame talk. http://www.ghostrecon.net/forums/index.php...st&p=481206

We ran into this guy on one of the servers last night...had to play else where our server was down. Courtesy of viiiper...he helped me earlier today. Here ya go! I'll PM you the IP File name is ban_list.xml open notepad & make an new text document called ban_list.txt paste this into it: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> <xml> <bannings> <ban hash_id="2f8fc08e50fdb8de14d6b6d02bf3d49e" name="[N8C]8In63r" ip="" duration="0" date="2007-08-01 15:19" day="2769" time="15.316667" end_day="0" end_time="0" /> </bannings> </xml> Then save the document as ban_list.txt Now edit document name to ban_list.xml save, windows warning: say yes, you are sure you want to change the type (to windows question box) Make a new folder in the "ghost recon advance warfighter 2" folder called " bans " copy ban_list.xml into that folder. [ZA]Zenjant
I have to say even the best anti-cheat system can obviously be beat. It does serve it's purpose to a limited extent, but by far the best method of catching cheaters is by replay. In the [Ghost Recon] I personally spent hours upon hours going over any match we played where one or more of my guys would be questioning something that happened in game. Caught a lot of cheaters this way on The Combat Zone, which in turn eliminated them from competing on our ladder, and subsequently were found cheating and kicked from other ladders in the GR community. Of course there were times where the replay couldn't provide proof of any hack, but confirmed suspicions, which ultimately lead to a closer eye being put on certain teams, or at least members of certain teams...no matter how 'smart" the hacker thought he was being, with a replay, one careless move like following people when they are on the other side of walls or hills, or making some kill through leaves where there is no way to see the enemy would be caught on the replay, and available for all to see it actually happening through the eyes of the cheater. I do not understand why GRIN did not include this feature in the game. Fraps is great and all, but how is it going to work in a match where you cannot watch a replay through the eyes of the enemy? Going to make it extremely difficult to get any solid proof on what was really going on. Looks like at this time the community is left to fend itself from cheaters. I'm not sure how the ladders are going to function though, unless neutral moderators are in the game using Fraps and recording both teams. Problem still exists that the replay will only be what the Mod records, what he is seeing at the time will be the entire replay, instead of being able to watch what happened from any player in the game at any given time. I guess I really don't understand why a game developed in 2001 had this feature, and yet a game released 6 years later in 2007 does not. I have no idea how hard it would be to implement such a feature in a patch, but it sure would go a long way in keeping people playing with a piece of mind that when something just doesn't add up, you can rely on the replay to give you some answers. Guest
One good way to catch somebody with the nade hack is to watch them run. If their legs don't move, and they're moving around like a cheap chess piece, then they're hacking. Check them and you'll see...
