Kakanater 0
I don't know much on this topic but would i get more fps if my GRAW2 dvd was in my dvd drive or if i didn't put it in at all. Because if i remember correctly with Company of heroes when i did not use my dvd, i got a significant fps boost. Thanks for any advice.
Pave Low 16
It will have absolutely no effect on GRAW 2's FPS if it's in or out and as GRAW 2 doesn't need it for security check you can safely put it away in the case as soon as installed . Games usually only access CD/DVD for a security check at start up phase or to access movie files & cut scenes if they weren't installed to the hard drive (to save space)
viiiper 0
I have to agree with "Pave Low" the DVD not being in the drive has no effect on my system, all graphics & sounds are pre-fetched from the quick.bundle on Hard disk, if anything no dvd would speed up things. Papa6 88
well I'm a Direct2Drive installer and I know for fact that I got the game same as the DVD crowd maybe..albeit the autorun crap. pfft! who cares about that. but the game runs completely off my HDD which is the slowest part of any PC, make sure you defrag your drive. I have had about a 20-30% speed increase on GRAW2 bootup alone. But Grin did it right this time.
Kakanater 0
what is defraging your drive and how do i do it.
Papa6 88
windows takes information off your harddrive and when done places it back on your harddrive, scattering the info all over the drive. this is why it takes longer for programs to load. but, if you defrag, you can place that info in a more , the word escapes me...erm, inline and together so the harddrive doesn't have to look all over for the information/files. ah! contiguous, yes that's the word. so the files are more in ordewr on the platters. damn old age getting to me... you can download and use the demo diskeeper 2007 which I use, or use the less helpful defrag utility that is with windows go to start/programs/accessories/system tools/disk defrag. GRIN_Wolfsong 0
Dvd in or out I guess it's still in. Blue-Ray has basically killed HD-DVD now (even Mircosoft says so), but it will take a few more years before 12 year old DVD is out. Oh... You where talking about the game. No, you can take the DVD out.
Whisper_44 0
Blue-Ray has basically killed HD-DVD now (even Mircosoft says so) I guess Sony finally got it's vindication for the "Beta" fiasco
