Ideas for Weapons Mods

When we're given the right tools for modding, maybe Brettzies or some other weapons mods would like to make mods for a few of these weapons

Nah ducky. The SL8 is actually an ugly version of the G36. It's as close as civilians can get to the G36. I agree the L96 should be added. That's a sweet sniper rifle. And bottman had a lot of good ideas too. I forgot about the HK417. They should definately add that into the game. But only the assault rifle/carbine version of it. I'm sure the modders will do a good job no matter what.

It seems that GRIN or UBI has a contract with H&K, because most of the weapons are H&K based. My hope is GRIN will release a weapon pack or update that finishes some of the line like the 417, MP-7, and the USP 40. I would also love to see some bolt action Sniper Rifles and the AI AS50, that gun is the bomb. :wub: Maybe modders can pick these up... :thumbsup:

Oh really? 24 player weapons.... 10 are HK (of which 3 are variations of other weapons). 41,6%... "most" usually requires a result over 50%. ;)

But yes, or the manufactures HK has the biggest percentage of weapons (but it's not most of the weapons). :P

you kno what i think grin was just watching these forums.

they put the mildot reticule on the msg rifle which is from brettzies sniper rifle, they put all the mexican weapons as used like everyone in graw1 weapon modding forums wanted. g36 and hk21. they put the rpg in because everyone wanted a rpg. i think grin gets there ideas from here

its not hard to make weapons, if you want to make a weapon.

Then what am I paying you for? Get to work LOL I agree with you on that GRIN probably has been reading these forums over the past year or so. I think they listened to a lot of our ideas. All I know is they did a good job.

The main ones I'd like to see are the M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System(SASS), Barret M468 6.8mm Assault Rifle/Carbine, HK M417 7.62 Assault Rifle/Carbine, L96 Sniper Rifle, USP 40 Pistol, and MK 48 7.62 Light Machine Gun(LMG). The MP7 and M107 50 caliber semi-automatic sniper rifle should definately be taken into consideration. I do love the M99 cause the bolt action is sweet but sometimes, I tend to forget about reloading it. I'm definately looking forward to Brettzies' mod to be moved over to here cause I never really got a chance to try it out for the first GRAW. Anyways, that's all I got now. Have a good 'un.

Okay, Bottman. I'll make a compromise with ya. The 3 weapons you named and the Barrett M468. I definately would like to have the 417. The MP7 could be added either as a side arm or secondary weapon. Not sure since it's so small. And the AI AS50 would be a sweet new sniper rifle cause I am wanting a semi-automatic 50 cal. I'm not sure GRIN would do it though. Don't think adding new guns into the game is their department. I'm not gonna put it past em though since this game has already exceeded my expectations. I'd leave gun mods to someone like Brettzies or sniggle

Mwgfghost: I completely agree with your choice of the Barrett 468, love the weapon. In fact, the US is learning a quick lesson with the 5.56 round not being leathal enough with shorter barrels (<20"). The round doesn't generate enough energy, so several manufacturers are going to the 6.8. We need a 6.8 weapon, and the 468 is a perfect one. I agree with the MP-7 being a Secondary weapon, but it is necessary; being to penetrate 48 layers of Kevlar and firing at 950 RPM is unreal, the Ghosts' shurly need it. :D This model, sounds and animations might be more difficult, so I though it might be a good one for GRIN. The 417 should be a breeze with the 416 already created, hopefully I'm right. UBI should have clearence with AI to make the AS50, because it's in GRAW2 360. That one might be a little harder to do too, not sure. I love the ones we've listed, these would be great additions to the Game and would keep me playing for a LONG time... :drool::gun::yes:

At first I was like "What's so great about this weapon?" when I saw a vid on it a while ago cause all they were doing was taking it apart and showing the parts but I've seen some test videos that definately look sweet.

The M468 in the 360 version can be used from the start and is the only "variant" of the M4 in the game. PC users have the HK416, but having a more powerful version with the 6.8mm would be neat. The only problem that comes to mind is with having the HK417 as well. It seems a bit redundant having two more powerful variations of the M4, so I think that there'd have to be something to distinguish both guns other than the type of ammunition used. What comes to mind, at least for me, is to have the M468 in more of a CQB or mid-range role like the 416, and have the 417 in a DMR type role with higher power scopes.

Oh, and if possible, I'd like the EOTech to be available for more weapons.

What we need is also a good weapon for cover, what you think about the "MG42" with 1800 rounds per minute, anti-aircraft sight and awe-inspiring sound? And for the short distance a "SPAS 12" or a "USAS" with buckshot or slug! I would build it, if you can give me a good tutorial!

Good ideas. I think we need to priortize our requests to make it easier for developers. You never know who watching... :ph34r:

Here would be my ideal priority (Top 5):

1. Barrett 468

2. H&K 417 Assault varient

3. AI AS50

4. H&K MP-7 (secondary)

5. H&K Mk48

I think a shotgun or two would be great as well, so would a bolt action sniper rifle. M24, DSR-1, L96 etc...

Pretty decent list. I think everyone yelling out their personal favorites like the L96, SA80 (L85), FAMAS, etc. need to remember that the Ghosts are a US Special Forces unit. Sure, there's latitude in some of what the SF guys get to use, but, believe it or not, there is some standardization to what's issued (see the developing Mk16 and Mk17 program). Odds are slim that (even a Ghost) is going to be carrying around a British-, French-, or German-issued rifle. Of course, take everything I say with a grain of salt. My bias lies along a US-centric viewpoint, seeing that this is supposed to be about a US SFG. All bets are off, of course, if there's a corresponding foreign-soldier mod to go with the weapons, and then I'd apologize. :D

To add my votes to this section, some being for the enemy's use-

Assault/Battle rifles

1. A standard-issue, plain ol' M4 with the SOPMOD II kit and perhaps able to use a HWS. Seems strange this was left out of the game to begin with...

2. AK47 (why is this ubiquitous weapon not in the game? They're everywhere in South and Central America!)

3. G3 (again, see #2)

4. FAL (again, refer to #2)

5. HK417 in the Recce variant (an ACOG would be nice...)

6. M14 with an Aimpoint or ACOG (an EBR or SOPMOD2 version would be ideal, but even the base rifle would be fine)

7. M468 in either the CQC or Recce variant

Sniper rifles

1. M110 SASS

2. M24 SWS

3. M107 with the 20-inch barrel

4. Dragunov SVD

Pistols

1. A variant of the M1911, specifically the new 1911A2 the AMU is showing off

2. Sig M11 and/or the P226

3. Browning/FN Hi-Power (very widespread pistol)

Shotgun (probably as a secondary)

1. M3

2. 590

Miscellanea-

1. The M68 optic being used is likely going to be replaced in the next couple years by the Aimpoint M4 and in some cases it's being replaced by the M3.

2. Why no ACOG in the core weapons?

3. The HWS would be sweet on other weapons, like the 416

Things I wish they'd have left out, and renamed-

1. M8, in all its varieties. It's not going into service, so why is it here?

2. RX4. Cop gun. What are SF soldiers doing using it?

3. The Glock could've been replaced with the aforementioned Sig

4. G36 should probably be renamed FX-05. That's the Mexican version.

WP33,

I like your ideas and your list, but it's long. It also has some older weapons that are being replaced. To help narrow the list, give your top 5 in total, not by weapon. I think that will help create a common list. I tried to come up with newer weapon systems to match the near future setting. :thumbsup:

Wow, trying to pare the list down is a little difficult. And I do know some of the weapons I put down are older, but the 1911 is making a resurgence in both old (old stock is being pulled out of mothballs and refitted) and new form (the M1911A2 the Army Marksmanship Unit is putting out for consideration by SOCOM), the M4 is about to get repurchased by the Army to the tune of 110,000+ units and it's going into the next SOPMOD evolution. The M14 is also alive and well out in the field in the DMR variants, the EBR and the M21/M25 versions, despite the approval of the M110. I have a feeling these weapons will be out in good numbers for many years to come.

Luckily, Brettzies has made an M4 and an SPR variant and, even despite the few bugs, I can live with it, so that gets that off the hook. An M14 exists in the game, even though only in a marksman or sniper role, unfortunately. The AK, the FAL and the G3 I meant for someone to look at for an enemy weapons kit, as those things will be around forever.

Hmm. If I had to pick just 5 to put on a list for BLUFOR use, I'd have to say

1. HK 417 Recce

2. 1911 of some description (the A2 version would rock balls)

3. M107

4. M110

5. Either something like the M3 or the 590 shotgun or a UMP .45 for a secondary

well, stepping aside from the Assault Rifles, SMG's,pistols, sniper rifles, I think a shotgun would be interesting to see in GRAW2.

WP33: Great List. It's hard paring it to 5 isn't it :D

Bangurdead: I love the idea of having a shotgun, just not sure if Graw is coded for it?? :hmm:
