How do i save in campaign.

I beat the first mission and am on the second one and remembered that i supposed to be allowed to fight when not in a firefight. Does this mean i can manually save at any point when not in a firefight. Where do i go to do this.

The default key is "K".

You will be able to tell your savepoints from the stock ones by the description.
