BIGFELLA
is there a way to access the console before you start the round or do you have to be in and playing the round first?
GRIN_Wolfsong
is there a way to access the console before you start the round or do you have to be in and playing the round first? I don't know if you can access it. But you can write console commands in the chat.
Beaver
No, this has been answered already in the Dedicated Server Setup/Feedback thread & we have asked for it to be included per graw1. The 'search' option is your friend.
ARDelta
I don't know if you can access it. But you can write console commands in the chat. You put a "/" in front of the commands in chat, correct?

viiiper
is there a way to access the console before you start the round or do you have to be in and playing the round first? At the moment: The straight answer is NO, there is no console page access pre launch, the text window access pre launch is ridiculous, if you miss type you can show all players the server password. The text box is only 5 lines long and some say use PgUp & PgDn buttons to scroll the window but if you have KEY BOUND those keys to other functions, your in pea soup there too. LOOK HERE: http://www.ghostrecon.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=44750 AND HERE http://www.ghostrecon.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=44904 1. You can not specify maps that are on the server, that are not in the cycle 2. You can not change the port number 16250 (game spy default) but you can switch off gamespy ranking 3. You can not have more than one map cycle 4. You can not keep 2 script cycles one for 32 player maps & one for 12 player coop maps 5. You can not get into console from lobby 6. There is no save command for saving changed values, next map uses old values ie: match points 35->100 7. You can not have a special scrim/ ladder map cycle (as point 4. and access it via console) 8. You can not restrict kits (ie disable Grenade launchers) like GRAW1 allowed I reserve the right to add more
Papa6
one thing that is lacking is the chatting between rounds. in GR we used it to ask guest teams for what map they wanted to play , and whatever. it was VERY helpful as teams got to take turns selecting maps. @ viiiper, perhaps Grin can implement a feature whereby if the "/" is used, noone can see what is typed to counter act what you brought up as a security issue for running a server. very good point. Cangaroo.TNT
^ The best solution given the current setup is to use a G15 keyboard and preprogram the keys. No typos!

It is an idea, but the problem is, if by chance you forget to place the slash or the keyboard stroke does not place the slash in, then the command looks like " login password" 'enter' and all can see your server password, it happened in GRAW1 if you were in the text box typing in commands for access. What is needed, like most games a console mode in lobby, in game and in the default screen which can be activated by a keyboard 'key' or menu button like in GRAW1 'C' button and your in the console. I don't have a G15 keyboard and I know Kangaroo was having a little j/k (part of)
Papa6
maybe a separate admin console? hit the tilde(~) key and that presents you with a admin only console and typo all you want bcz noone can see what you type Edited July 18, 2007 by Papa6
