Multi Player co op misssions

Recommended Posts

To start I love the game in general wonderfull improvement.

The missions in coop mode are very good I would like to make a couple of suggestions to improve an already great game type.

1. The voice quotes as an option not mandatory.

2. Console before selecting weapons ie map and planning section really does need grids on, when planning the mission we need to be able to lacate our taks on the map.

3.Narcom commentary as an option not mandatory.

4. Once inside a mission team members dont have the same control as the team leader.

For instance the Rosen mission only the team leader can activate to move I think all the players should have the same control especially if the team has 2 or 3 section leaders.

5. All team players need a map for reference this would be the same as the one in the planning stage but with grids on.

These 5 points will improve this game type a hundred fold and make for better gameing and replayabillity.

With Respect

Colin

This makes me wonder how you can have 2 or 3 sections leders when you can only be 4 players?

The team leader is the only one who has control of support units and the satelite just because he is the team leader.

Side info: If the leader is killed all the leader specialties are transfered to the second in command. If he is also killed it's moved to the third, or if the original leader has respawned back to him. It always try to go back to the original leader when doing the switch.

But whats the point of just the team leader seeing the map if he cant communicate the intended route/objective he wants his team to head for? atleast if every body had a map he could say " team 2 head north through the pass at c6/d6 and take a covering position in d5 covering d4. Team 1 will head to d1 and will catch them in a cross fie" Its a lot easer than " team 2 head north humm past the 3rd tree on the right you can see a bit of a rise go up there and you will see a bit of a cliff thing etc etc " You see were its going ? you spend 10mins trying to discribe the terrain to your other team members, looking at it from above, But to them it looks different from the ground perspective. a simple map with grid refs on would be good.

I don't have the full version yet so, can anyone access the satelite map in coop?

It would be great so that everyone can get a better overview of the plan (if way points are visible that is).

In Coop, yes. But Coop uses a "paper" map and not satelite.

In Campaign Coop, no. Only team leader has CrossCom uplink to satelite.

Nice to see you back in the mix Wolf. There is something special about a fan turned official employee who still communicates with us. We apprecaite all the GRiNners who talk with us, but your role as fan-turned-offical is uniquely important to many of us.

It appears, Wolf, that campaign coop has a terribly broken feature that was a beacon of light and fun in GRAW1 PC.

Can you please confirm that the good folks at GRiN know that the Squad leader order giving system in campaign coop is broken? A move order, given by the squad leader, DOES NOT result in the swirling blue cirlce "move to this postion", being seen by the human it was intended for. I believe the "cover here" order is also not passed to be seen by the other human it was intended for.

can you please confirm that GRiN knows about this broken (missing?) feature and whether or not it is on their "to be fixed" list?

First of all I have to say that I am still waiting for GRAW2 to be released here in the states and may not fully understand the problem. In Steel Beasts Pro PE we frequently play with no map updates and sometimes with the map screen disabled. The solution is to screen shot and print out the map from the briefing screen provided it has grids. The lack of map updates or ingame maps for everybody but the leader does raise the bar considerably.

1.Raises the value of accurate and effective comms considerably.

2.Raises the need for good situational awareness.

3.Required level of teamwork is considerably higher.

4. navigation becomes considerably more challenging players.

However this should have been an option not a permanent part of the game.

Ok, I must have missed something. I thought that GRAW2 had the potential of having more than 4???

For todays military or very near future, this makes since but for GRAW2?

The team leader is the only one who has control of support units and the satellite just because he is the team leader.

Now, that response instantly hit me as a defensive "Well, Duhh! Of course only team leader will have Sat access." However, Colin was right on. Even in today's modernization of the military, shared data is a huge part. As far as I know, there isn't shared Satlinks though. As far as player challenge, every shooter having complete access may be a bit much but viewability (if that is a word) as what the team leader is seeing and placing makes sense. GRAW2 is billed as the future of warfare with advanced technology. So, shared satlink , as Colin suggested, makes since and completely plausible, making the "Well, Duh!!" off the mark.

Yes you can have 12 in Coop. But only 4 in Campaign Coop, which is where the satellite view is available. And the satellite view was part of the original text I answered.

In Coop there is a "paper" map for everyone as there is no game designated team leaders in that mode. It's up to the players to form on the fly.

Cool, I did miss that, thanks. If someone knows where the link to that is???( in my scattered brain, I keep missing it.) However, to Colin's idea of the Shared Sat link?? any word on a patch for it or??

Yea. Too bad the 12 man system didnt allow teams to form into groups of 4, with squad leaders, and then give the squad leaders all the mission coop tools. I mean, server side controlled of course. I kept asking for that.

but resource limitations and time limitations in development are real things i understand. Plus, its possible that GriN wouldn't even agree with me that the feature has merit. But i think it would.

The 4 man coop can be be if one looks hard enough can be up to 6.

This will be for a bit in the future I would imagine.

But the three guys still need detailed maps to look at during the planning stage and the implementation stage.

If you want some of the team to do one task or cause a distraction then this is a must.

Its pure common sence.

Hammer has made a simple enough map with grids.

In my original post I did say the 5 points would make the game better, this part of the game needs tweaking and I think the five points will help a lot.

Its a sugestion no more.

Nice 1 Hammer, pls send me.

Agree with Colin`s original post, but no command map is my only real down point at the moment. Maybe I am just soooo used to it in other games? Would be nice to have though.

6 man co-op eh? ;)

Not having a command map to communicate directions to team mates sounds awful. I haven't played any coop yet, but what's described above sounds like a real PITA. Pulling up the command map in GR1 during coop games is something you do instinctively many many times during the course of one mission.

Those grids Hammer's prepared look great, but what a backward step from a gameplay point of view.

What's stopping the rest of the team having the "paper" map in Campaign Co-op?

That`s the point. Playing MP first, running with my map up using the M Button, was awesome, just like GR1. I was gutted this afternoon, when i played co-op for the first time. And i couldn`t stop pressing the M Button out of instinct. Didn`t stop me having a great time in there, but...

Surely it could at least be an option? It`s not as though it is not implied else were. You can`t assume everyone wants to use comms also. Typing "Goto C5" is a lot easier, than what we have here.
