ematsui
will there be a seperate download for SADS?' or do we seriously have to upload an entire DvD to our servers to get a "Standalone dedicated Server" running?
FI_FlimFlam
It was requested in GRAW1 and didn't happen. I doubt it would now. What's the big deal to start the upload before you goto bed or goto work. It should be done by the next day or when you get home. The sooner you start uploading, the sooner your server will be up and running. FYI, I'm not trying to be harsh, and I do agree the convenience would be nice but it's not essential. Annoying most definitely. But I think there are bigger things to fight for with GRAW when it's not very likely they will change their stance on it. That wouldn't be a possibility for me - I'm stuck w/ a Download & Upload limit & my upload speed is o so very low - Stupid Belgian ISP's
ematsui
I dont know... Grin BO said this in the MP Demo discussion thread "I think you misunderstood. Dedicated files will be supplied at RELEASE of the game. So they can be used without the game but released at that point in time. Any person can use them. Yes? Bo" This would contradcit what Beaver posted about needing the game to upload to your server etc... just want clarification if there will be a seperate release of a server package, or do we truly need the game (dvd, etc..) to get these server files? ARDelta
I agree. From Bo's comments, it definitely sounds like you should not have to uplaod the entire DVD. But, the longer this thread remains here without a response from a Grinner, the more likely it is that you do have to upload the enitre DVD. Snuffy
Hi, am I missing something here? Does the full game have SADS as promised by GRIN or not ?and does it have full server controls too? [Merged with existing thread]

unwritt3n
Hey guys, Where can I download the SADS? I can't find them anywhere? I want to host for the Aussies. Just got my ADSL2+ 24Mb. Have a 1Mb upload which would be more then enough. Cheers. [Merged with existing thread]
Bota:16
C:/Program Files/Ubisoft/Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 JK There is no SADS download, but there is a thread to give you some insight on how to setup a standalone server.
grin_Ichabod
Sudden Adult Death Syndrome? Anyway, there's no Stand Alone Dedicated Server version of the game. Check the Dedicated Server setup thread in this forum for more info. http://www.ghostrecon.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=44750
=ADF=Cormac
Unwritten nice sig and go Aussie. Love to see an Aussie server up more regular like. GA and IGN may have one soonish, fingers crossed.
Metal_Jacket
It will great to see Aussie servers in GRAW2, there are a fair few Aussies GRAWing at the minute, it will be nice to enter a room with a reasonable ping.
unwritt3n
Ahh geez... I didn't realise there was no SADS... I don't have a copy of the game atm. These next few months are full on at work and uni, and I need to concentrate on that. So I haven't bought a copy of the game yet, because I know I'll get side tracked. I just thought that in the mean time, I would have been happy to host a 24/7 AUS server. Ahh well.
FI_FlimFlam
Unwritten, I'm sure if you are willing to host I bet someone in Austrailia could be convinced to upload the data to your server. You would just have to set up a FTP user to dump the data into a directory on your server. Then you would be good to go. I have a feeling with the lack of servers in AUS, that several people would be willing to do that for you.
FcUK_A
Is it to much to ask for nower days, Loads and loads of people won't be able to host the game with out SAD's. Ok i've seen the other post about setting up a server and not needing the following NO 3D GRAPHICS card required [Thing that should not be spoken of here IAW Forum Rule 3.7] KEY required NO DVD required in DVD DRIVE NO Install Required (copy over the graw2 dir, don't install it to server) NO DUAL CORE Required But even so a nice self install and a read me file would of been good out of the box !! C3.padewan
Any word on Dedi Server Files in this release? They said they were going to release w/ Dedi Server Files for clan matches and Clan gaming. Anyone know anything about it? Still waiting till Tuesday here in the U.S. [Post moved to one of the existing threads where that is already answered] Edited July 15, 2007 by Pave Low
FI_FlimFlam
All the file you need are included on the disk. Infact they are in your install. Once you install your game, just zip up the GRAW directory, then upload the file to your game server. Unpack it, configure you xml file and then run the dedicated exe. It then runs fine. What people are complaining about is they they don't have the convenience of downloading the file to their server. Rather they don't want to have to deal with the inconvenience of the time it takes to upload. Other than that, the stand alone dedicated server is available. Because of that people want to say it isn't a SADS package. Functionality wise it is a SADS. People just don't like to be inconvenienced so they complain and say it's not SADS. charliebrownau
Will their ever be an Proper Standalone Server for GRAW1 & GRAW2 ever be released ? That does not need the whole game files from the retail disc And does not need the ageia physx drivers installed ? Ive been checking the GRAW2 Dedicated gamefile thread and lots of users are having hassles with it , it would be easier with a proper STANDALONE seperate program simular to the BF1942/BFV/BF2/BF2142 dedicated server programs Also is their an upcoming patch for GRAW1 and GRAW2 to LIMIT on the server anyone joining with a ping HIGHER then 100-150 to block out the high ping players and make the game smooth for all ? That does not need the whole game files from the retail disc And does not need the ageia physx drivers installed ? Definately not for GR:AW 1 as for GR:AW 2, unlikely. What we got is what we got. Future patches will hopefully fix a lot of things but don't expect a "True SADS" to suddenly appear any time soon. Ive been checking the GRAW2 Dedicated gamefile thread and lots of users are having hassles with it, it would be easier with a proper STANDALONE seperate program simular to the BF1942/BFV/BF2/BF2142 dedicated server programs No, Really don't think there is anyone involved that doesn't know and agree with that, including GRIN, but don't forget they were working to UBI's requirement. C9.Constantine
If they release them they'll need to include the ability to disable weapons of choice (GL, Frags, whatever...)

Nutlink
Which brings another stoopid question - would it break the EULA to take what is needed for a dedicated server and put it up as a download?
GRIN_Wolfsong
Which brings another stoopid question - would it break the EULA to take what is needed for a dedicated server and put it up as a download? I would guess so as it would require most of the game.
charliebrownau
No one would have to host a server off their own connection at home in Australia if Ubi/whoever released a FREE STAND ALONE DEDICATED SERVER program then aussie ISP's would host a server on their bandwidth for all aussies to join a low 50 ping server instead . No point hosting a server on Australian limited home connections with small download quota and small upsteam . List of Australian ISP LOW PING PC game Servers ( PLEASE DO NOT JOIN ANY OF THESE IF YOU ARE NOT IN AUSTRALIA ) Bigpond ISP - http://bigpond.com/ http://www.gamearena.com.au/getconnected/servers/ Internode ISP - http://www.internode.on.net/ http://games.internode.on.net/ Netspace ISP - http://www.netspace.net.au/ http://network.gamespace.net.au/?sb_page=query iiNet ISP - http://www.iinet.net.au/ http://games.iinet.net.au/gamestats.cgi Eftel ISP - http://w3.eftel.com/ http://www.egn.com.au/servers/listing Pipe & Waix traffic (Australia only - not avail on Cable , ADSL and Wimax only) http://www.3fl.net.au/serverspy/ http://www.waia.asn.au/waix/ http://www.pipenetworks.com/ Is it me , or is there others that find it hard to find a decent game to buy the legit retail edition when so many low quality featureless console ports get half released on PC ? For me what will get me to buy the game: - Decent gameplay before graphics bling - SADS free program support - coop with 8 to 16 players - able to respawn in coop (even if its only 4 to 12 times) - ping limiting supported on the server (block anyone with a ping over 110) - able to install the game without music or solo single player data - ai does not appear to see thou walls and track your moments by the microsecond - Able to use cars/planes/ships/guns like the ai can - Able to have split screen gaming with TWO keyboards and TWO mice on the same PC (idealy having duel output , one person uses monitor , one person uses TV with wireless keyboard/mouse)
