Zoom out.

Go to free flight mode (can't mode camera otherwise). Look at object you want to zoom out from with the mouse. Press "S" to go backwards. Use scroll wheel to adjust speed. Navigation is exactly the same as in GRAW1.

"S, W, A, D" Buttons!

Yes. They move you along the camera axis.

"Q" and "E" move you up and down along the world axis. ;)

Hats off to GRIN for the most incredible palette of objects - amazing stuff.

The props and stuff should allow for quite varied maps. I guess new landscape meshes is the main area that modder will have to add to the graphics in the near future.

A warning. The Stryker and Movag AI vehicles will crash the editor. The reason for this is that their scripts haven't been updated since GRAW1 as they are not used in GRAW2. They will no be available in the lists once the editor patch is out.

Good point actually. There is no mission editor. This is about the map editor and I`ll move it right now.

There are other posts regarding mission references i hope will fill up with lot`s more info soon. As to the Map editor, it really is not too hard to get a hold of.

There is a definition problem in GRAW1 and GRAW2.

In GR1 there was a distinction between map and mission as maps could not be affected inside the editor and had to be fully made inside 3DS Max. In the GRAW series it's not the easy to draw a line. MP maps (DM, TDM, S, HH and/or RvsA) need only work inside the editor, yes. But missions (SP, Campaign Coop or Coop) need as much work in the editor as in their XML script. So mission modding covers both editor and scripting.

OK - very basic question from a beginner. I start the editor and now I'm looking at this big empty space - blue sky with some white puffy clouds - quite pleasant. Now what do I do? How do I get started? Sorry, I'm completely lost. I can select things from the list of objects on the right, then right-click on the world and the program presents a pop-up menu like I'm placing the object, but I can't see it when I'm done. ...so lost.

if I go into the scripting in xml - can i see the map at the same time - to tell ai where to go etc etc?

As long as you run it in windowed mode you can have both windows up at the same time, and easily jump between them. I still suggest using dual screens though as you can't move the editor window from the center of the screen. The resolution options and fullscreen/windowed options are the same as set for the game and can't be changed inside the editor. The editor is not entirely a separate program like in GR1, but part of the game itself.

Paths for the AI are placed entirely in the editor though. There are some other orders that can tell them to go to locations, which are also placed inside the editor and you only need the name to use.

Vehicle orders require coordinates, which I don't think you can see right now.

Go to the landscapes sub-layer (see earlier posted readme). Place a landscape on which you can then place other units without them being lost in the void.

I would just like to spawn on an empty terrain, then plan from there?

Place the mouse icon on the terrain where you want to spawn. Press "L" to spawn a character. Press "F8" to toggle between "first person running around and shooting" and editor mode. Not sure if it works in the version you have right now though.

well the first thing I noticed was, there was no dialog that allowed fo rme to start a map. ie map name view distance etc. but I could place items ok. I'll wait for th editor files and then get into my 3dsmax'ing. as well as a exporter tool.

I think I'll need to download th e.dds plugin for Photoshop

Good idea. It works with TGA, but DDS is better for performance.

I'm getting a bit anxious about getting the editor. any idea when Wolfsong?
