Enough for now ;) we don't want to get any GRIN in the bad books till later... :thumbsup:

Known Issues:

There are some features not working in this version:

Selection Box Not Visible

3D cursor Not Visible

AI-Graphs Not Visible

You can not walk around in the editor with a character

Humans not visible in editor

The real missing item is the grid function, but I know this is a part project, like someone ;) said

There is no grid in the GRAW2 editor. You can place items freely wherever you want them.

Select an object, and press thumb mousebutton and move it around wherever you want it to be.

is there any alterniv key for the thumb mouse button

couse i dont have a thumb button, if theres none

i but it on the wishlist ;)

it was allready a pain in the ass in graw 1 for me

Sorry, no there isn't. You need the thumb button.

Tutorials on missions scripting (similar to the one available for GRAW1 but bigger...), setup of map for the original MP game modes, creating new game modes as well as creating new classes and kit restriction are done and will arrive with the other mod stuff.

Wolfsong, you've been a wealth of info in your posts today. I'm patiently awaiting GRAW2 sales in US, passing time in the forums to see what I can do with this new version. Sounds promising at this time.

I think I've written around 130-140 pages in those tutorials so far, so I hope they will help some at least. I'll keep cruising the forum when I have time as well, to answer any questions that I can.

In the ArmA Editor you can make cutscene's and intro's for movies & missions. Using camera scripts..

I wonder will you be able to do the same thing in the GRAW 2 editor?..

I'm still waiting for my GRAW 2 PC copy to arrive yet..

Thanks.

Once you've opened a mission script you'll notice that there are camera/cinematic scripts in there. Those are accompanied by markers placed in the editor to complete the cinematic system in GRAW2. You can use them to whatever you want, intro, outro, mid-mission cutscene...

Nice, in the SP demo you see there are intro scene's. It would look great if they were like that with the cinematic border.

I just gotta wait n see for the editor release.

If all goes well, here come some GRAW 2 movies :grin2::thumbsup:

Hello Guys.

There is indeed an editor included, although it doesn't have all features yet.

This is from a quick readme I wrote:

Copy context.xml to a new file called: context-editor.xml

replace this line:

<script base="data" exec="Menu/Menu" editor="false" language="english"/>

With this line:

<script base="data" exec="levels/editor/editor" editor="true" editable="true" enforce_texture_sets="false" override_allow_autoload="true"/>

Also make sure to add this line:

<threaded_renderer value="false"/>

And then launch the game with graw2.exe –o context-editor.xml

That will start the map editor. There are some hotkeys that are good to know:

Space = Enter / Exit Freeflight mode

CTRL+Backspace = calculate lightmaps

CTRL+S = save the level

CTRL+L = load the last save

Left Mousebutton(Mouse 1) = Select Objects

Right Mousebutton (Mouse 2) = Place Objects

Middle Mousebutton(Mouse 3) = Rotate selected object

Thumb Mousebutton(Mouse 4) = Move selected object

Up arrow / Down arrow = Yaw rotation

Left arrow / Right arrow = Pitch rotation

CTRL+ Up / Down arrow = move selected object up and down

F6 = Editor Light on/off

F10 = Editor console on/off

There are also some Layer specific hotkeys:

When in the Static Layer:

CTRL+1 = Buildings and other static objects

CTRL+2 = Props and other destructible objects

CTRL+3 = Landscapes

When in the Dynamic Layer:

CTRL+1 = Props Vehicles

CTRL+2 = “Real” Vehicles

Once you have saved a level (CTRL+S) it will end up in the "data\levels\world_xml\" directory.

From there you can copy it to another folder of choice, for example "data\levels\my_first_level\".

Once you have copied it to the new folder you can edit it again in the editor with the commandline:

"graw2.exe -o context-editor.xml -path my_first_level".

So i was just being a dumbo! Editor working fine, thnx for the information.

I dunno Lighty, but it doesn't work for me either.... standby...

Okay I go it sussed, when GRIN Ichabod says

And then launch the game with graw2.exe –o context-editor.xml

It doesn't make it clear where the quotation marks go, so here is how it should look in it's entirety.

"D:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2\graw2.exe" -o context-editor.xml

Wth your own path obviously (my games are all on d:\).

One thing before you try it, find out how to quit the editor, I had to alt tab and shut it down from desktop LOL.

The editor with the required edits already made is available for download here.

A FAQ ENTRY has been made for this item.

Step 1 - Make a copy of your context.xml file and rename it to context-editor.xml

Step 2 - Open up context-editor.xml and change the following line from <script base="data" exec="Menu/Menu" editor="false" language="english"/> to <script base="data" exec="levels/editor/editor" editor="true" editable="true" enforce_texture_sets="false" override_allow_autoload="true"/>

Step 3 - Make a new shortcut to graw2.exe and add -o context-editor.xml to the target line

Step 4 - Launch from new shortcut

Are you sure you guys did exactly that instead of just the shortcut instructions?
