Ghost Recon will not run

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to run the game on a Sony Vaio. My game is updated to 1.4 and I've tried reinstalling twice already. The game installs fine, but when I try running the game it crashes before the game opens and I don't get any sort of prompt about the crash or anything, it just sorta stops working. I only have the Desert Storm expansion, but right now it isn't installed. When it is installed it's the same story.

Thanks in advanced for any suggestions.

Here is my .log stuff:

First thing is your Win2K is way behind ... shouldn't you be at Service Pack 4?

Also, do you have the latest video drivers for your ATI chip?

Win2k? I'm on XP.

I'm trying to find drivers for this damn video card.

Well your problem is here

RSDisplayMgr::CreateGameWindow: Creating a 1280x800 window at 0,0 on monitor Default Monitor attached to ATI MOBILITY IGP 340M/345M -=DHzer0point=-

RSDisplayMgr::CreateGameWindow: Game running on primary display Default Monitor attached to ATI MOBILITY IGP 340M/345M -=DHzer0point=-

RSDirect3DRenderer::BuildDeviceList: No compatible adapters found

RSDirect3DRenderer: Could not build device list

RSDisplayMgr::CreateRenderer: Could not initialize renderer

Basically this is the game complaining that it is unable to use your display adapter. I'm not familiar with the ATI IGP 340M/345M, but my guess is that you probably have a video driver or directx related problem.

Win2k? I'm on XP.

LOL! I was looking at "Microsoft Windows 2000 5.1 Service Pack 2 build 2600" which is indeed XP :wall:

Well, I think I have your answer. But tell us first how old is your laptop?

It looks like the last drivers ATI put out for the 340M/345M was before XP came out, so they have Windows 2000 drivers on the ATI website, but no updated XP drivers. The XP drivers you have are just the default drivers that come with XP.

Info for ATI MOBILITY IGP 340M/345M - download the pdf

http://ati.amd.com/products/radeonigp/rigp340m.html

You can see this video chip is even lower than the Radeon 7000, so I doubt you can run GR with it.

Sorry to say, but you just need a newer laptop
