As for "where the SpecOps operators are told nil about things like effective range, stability & accuracy of their weapons?" you will find that any solider is made to learn everything about the weapons he/ She has to use & the weapons of the enemy too. If I'm wrong, I'd like a soldier/ex-soldier to post otherwise. In the UK that's the way, unless the USA do it diffrent.

My point, I was trying to be ironic ;) So no bad feelings, ok?

About "knowing your guns": I've completed the demo lvl (on hardcore) with the SCAR-L, the HK416 and the RX4. I loved the Scar in GRAW 1, and it still seems a decent weapon for my playing style, although I noted some dispersion problems when trying to shoot the guys from across the bridge. The HK416 seemed more accurate, bit slightly less powerful. I can't make myself like the RX4. It kicks like a mule, and the triangle aiming point is just too arcade-style for me. ;)

I'll try out the M99 later on, but so far, my order of choice would be: Hk416, Scar and the Rx4 last.

IM running around the level on hardcore, by myself with a msg90, and a m9 pistol.. its pretty hard to kill everyone without being shot like that. =P

yeah, I made it to the bridge, but then the guy below on the stairs hit me.....darn.

Those guys on the bride that come in after you blow up the artillery are freaking beasts! You can get the first few guys from a consiled place, but after that, the whole group knows were you are, and start firing at you with pinpoint accracy. It's tough.

You can take out that guy if you take up a position up on the ridge to the left of the bridge as you approach it from the artillary positions. If you go prone you can also take out most of the guys that drop off the heli.

Also, check out the detail on the crosscom (another shout-out to Sleepdoc).

You can also take him out if you pass below the bridge  Edited by Cangaroo.TNT

1. I like the cinematic insertion. I find it makes the beginning of the mission more dramatic & gripping. The FPS helo ride has been done to death.

2. Recon mode actually works. We were able to sneak our way below, above, and behind enemy positions and were with a few feet of the AI (harcore setting too, not just normal).

3. Foliage is great concealment. Picked off several tangos while behind/within a bush without the enemy locating my position.

4. In most cases, the enemy AI does react well once engaged. Just watch them scamper in the tacmap as they move for cover after you kill one. Yes, sometimes a few are oblivious to what is happening.

5. Friendly AI does have a few issues, but the "Attack" command actually works. In GRAW, I would issue an "Attack" command, and they would not engage unless they were already in the LOS. Now, when you issue an "Attack" command, they will seek out the target.

6. With the tacmap, you can tell the drone which direction to look. I don't know if that was the case in GRAW, but it seems to work much better now.

7. The gameplay is really tailored to the individual. I engaged enemy positions up close with intense firefights, and slowly and methodically from a distance (best stealth score so far is 83%).

8. Objectives can be completed in (almost) any order.

9. I like the banter. Some of it is annoying, but on the whole, I like it. At one point, when we had cleared most of the objectives, Brown said "I think we've run out of targets, Captain." I found that pretty amusing. Also, the "cheerleading" is more varied than what they indicated in the previews.

Nice summery Cangaroo. You`ve saved me a lot of typing there.

#2 Recon Mode: I noticed that if we, the team, are in recon mode, and we had eyes on the enemy, maybe even only 20 feet away from them, the instant i switch to assault, the enemy suddenly see us and start firing straight at us before anyone even moves? I`ll have to try this a few times more in other places. <_<

Love the foliage. :D

Your AI team, even when right behind you, will not jump off the hut roof. Instead they turn around and run all the way around. :(

Looking forward to the game after that.

*EDIT*

Your left foot is gone into the ground on most hills,, spotted it all over the place:

GRiN, I'm taking time out from the SP Demo to come on here and congratulate you all on a job well done, Now this is what GRAW should have been, but I'm more than happy with the results this time so cheers for all the hard work that has obviously been poured into the sequel.

Can't wait till next week for the full game, if this really is a sample of whats to come.

Looks good, Runs great and sounds fantastic.

The SP demo a week before the release........Nice!!!!

It figures that I gotta be at work.... :wall: Sounds like the demo is getting awesome reviews. This is great news!!!!

So mates the $20 question: Is it comparable to [GR]?

Cheers!

It obvious to me, based on the reviews, that GRIN had a lot more control over this game......and this is a great thing... w00t

Cheers!

This time we moved into position, all eyes on.

I gave them there attack orders before putting them to assault, and, 5 dead enemy that did not even get a shot off!

Cheers Wolfsong.

depending on how you would define [GR],

but [GR] as in lone wolf hunting objectives or tangos, for me it comes very close if not a little better due to the new look and other options.

for me it is a reminder of (this mission in the demo) island thunder,

if not a partial rip off :P (which would be a compliment) though it also has a feel of "tank" to it in the "high sierra" setting and overall feel

Is it a [GR] beater???? well having played the original and loved every minute of it I think GRiN are well on their way to matching it with this latest offering, if the Demo is anything to go by. However I'm sure there will be many people on here who disagree with me, but thats what makes this forum fun!

[GR] will always be remembered with a certain fondness that will be hard to let go, but GRAW2 certainly kicks the series into modern times AND IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.

All in all, I love it and it seems most everyone else does as well. I would agree with those that said the friendly AI was too chatty with the "Captain?/Orders Captain?" dialogue. Also, I don't mind the occassional "Nice shot Captain," but I think they're sucking up a bit too much. (Can't you just hear the real SF guys doing just the opposite? "I can't believe you missed that shoot Captain, I could have made it shooting backwards while riding horseback!" OK, I've seen a few too many movies! )

I totally love the position markers (just like Xbox 360) for each ghost when you're giving a move order. And, it is great to have a recon mode that works! Although, I did seem to have a few problems getting to switch from recon to assualt.

Like I said, overall I love it. :grin1:

I noticed something.....

in GRAW 1, you could adjust how far you wanted to throw your grenade by keeping your fire-button pressed (the longer the click, the farther the throw). In Graw 2, it seems like however long or short I click, the grenade just flies till kingdom come and usually hits about half the map further away than I intended. It is just me, or has anybody noticed this as well?
