deleyt
www.game-artist.net posted a dev interview with Mike Climer, part of the weapons modeling team (high poly) for GRAW and GRAW2. Some really nice models there. Be sure to also check out Mike's website, mentioned aswell. JTF-2
I was wondering about that m14MOD0. Is it not in the PC version? It is an excellent model. wires would have been fun to look at too though.
Clone_Ranger
link to image It's a pity this isn't in the PC version. Amen... Funnily enough, despite the fact that GR:AW/GR:AW2 has been on the ball in respects of some future developments in infantry weaponry, they completely missed out on a couple of really important arms trends that have come out of the Iraq experience... The tactical M14 (with EBR stock) that you reference in the picture was one solution to the standard 5.56mm x 45mm NATO round being under-powered. 7.62mm x 51mm NATO M14s being still in reserve, this rifle made a good stop-gap 'special' with it big knock-down power... (Another example of this 'transitional' solution using 7.62mm is DSA Inc's SA58 PARA tactical. Which is basically a 'sawn off' FN FAL PARA.) However, this was just - as I said - stop-gap. The real innovations are the two new calibres - 6.5mm Grendal and 6.8mm Remington. I would have liked to see some weapons in these new calibres modelled in GR:AW2. Both have better ballistic capabilities than the old 5.56mm - and they both have flatter trajectories and less drift than the 7.62mm round. The 6.8mm calibre is being championed by the famous Barrett company, and they have produced a wonderful rifle based on the M16 pattern. Grendal takes another tack - by supplying a conversion kit which simply replaces the appropriate parts on current 5.56mm M16.M4s turning them into 6.5mmx39mm calibre weapons (though custom weapons are also available). I might be missing some part of the discussion here....but GRAW2 for the XBOX 360 has two rifles using the 6.8. Rx4 Storm (and it's suppressed counterpart) M468(and it's suppressed counterpart) They both have the 6.8x43mm round.
