methz68
I thought I was seeing things at first, but on the embassy north wall there is a massive poster on Die Hard 4. Edit, Also noticed a Samsung Advert for a LCD on the same map. I created my own server and had a look and the adverts where gone. So UBI can alter the default posters and adverts in a game? looks that way. Be nice if a big film studio would sponsor some DLC in exchange for a advert. ITI SERPICO IVI
Be nice if a big film studio would sponsor some DLC in exchange for a advert. yeah that's pretty nuts. i remember in graw1 on the nowhere map billboards of axe shower gel with some hot chick on the cover. in r6 vegas you notice all the parked vehicles are dodges. especially the dodge caliber which came out around the same time vegas did. and if i remember correctly, the dodge magnum was on various billboards in the sp campaign of graw1. i don't have any problems with adverts from actual companies in video games. it incorporates some sort of realism. but like meth said, lets us see some benefits from by either lowering the price of games or giving us free dlc. methz68
Tell you what it got my attention, I was moving over the the embassy and bang it was there a massive pster saying Die Hard 4 and July the 4th. I stood there and was thinking I am sure that it was not there before, Confused I made my way on top of the embassy and didnt mention it to my team mates, then 30 seconds later I hear my m8 say on the cross com "what the ######" is that" I say whats up and he says well I can see a big ~Die Hard poster! I guess the advert worked, As i cant get it out my head as to how it got there and is this a thing of more to come? edit: if you look around certain maps you will notice plenty of adverts for made up products, I guess these are placeholders and a real advert can be put in its place and loaded off xbox live. The samsung poster was on the southen spawn near the under ground garage right of the downward slope. beonder13
As more games are sold and played online I bet they can charge more to get an ad placed in game for a certain time period. More players, more potential views. More revenue. They should offer free add ons like maps and weapons to keep gamers happy and then get their revenue from outside sources. Works for me. methz68
In place of the Die Hard poster is now a advert for LCD screens. Gears of War had some sponsor, Correct me if I am wrong but a TV program Future Weapons paid for the maps and hence was a free download. Don't you feel all good inside knowing that by playing the game you are making ad revenue for Ubi?
methz68
I'd have thought if they was getting cash for the adverts they would at least try to make the ads viewable to everyone. I hosted a room last night with a friend to check something, my friend was on the other team and we both ran over to view the ads and I could see the Samsung advert yet my friend could not. So he hosted and we went over to the same ad and now I could not see it yet he could. We come to the conclusion that the host team could only see the ads, but this was not to be, we both ran off and a little way around the map we could both see certain ads for the Samsung LCD. I think the introduction of adverts in GRAW 2 was subtle I can't say I noticed them when the game first come out. Could be testing the ground who knows. Embassy seems to have the most at the moment, Monument Hill has a few real ads and a map like Nowhere has none, I'd have thought Nowhere would have been ideal as it has a fair amount of Bill Boards. Also the placement of some ads is wrong, some ads are in places people never ever go. I wonder if the companies who paid for the adverts know that the game is off the Xbox live charts and many people have dropped the game due to certain problems with it? I dont mind the ads dont get me wrong, but would be nice to get some free maps or dlc if UBI are making a mint out of them. http://www.igaworldwide.com/index.cfm? has info on this form of advertising. cajun47
in game ads are just another greed source for developers, publishers, micro. they won't give us anything free. what we get is higher priced games with content held back then we can pay for for the d/l ripoff scam.
