Sup
It's kinda hard to argue with community support like this: http://www.redorchestragame.com/ RED ORCHESTRA SUMMER ASSAULT STARTS NOW Release features custom map pack, increased player limits, and free guest passes for friends Roswell, GA, May 31, 2007 - Tripwire Interactive today announces the release of a major update for Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45, the award-winning WWII online action game. The update, which includes 10 new maps, increased player limits and much more, is available to owners of the game for free through Steam, Valve€™s digital distribution network. In addition to the new maps, Tripwire released an update to the game engine that enables high end servers to increase the player counts far beyond the current 32 player limit €“ up to 64 players for the most capable servers. The release also includes new artwork and music, several features requested by the clan/ladder/league community to enhance competitive play, and a heap of smaller enhancements and fixes. Read the full changelog for the update here. I don't play much RO, but it's really the kind of game you guys would like. Objective based Multiplayer, big teams, realistic gameplay, and a really compelling WW2 setting. Plus, each purchase nets you two free 10 day guest passes, if you want to show the game to a friend. Check it out on Steam. edit: Anyone know why url code is broken? Edit2: link fixed (you had hit return, so the close statement was on a different line to rest of URL) Edit3: well, that was fairly stupid of me. Thanks, Pave. Rocky
URL TEST Works fine here, somethings maybe changed in your browser settings? If not, post up exactly how you are trying to make a url. Back on topic - I tried RO and while I can see the attraction and why it has a loyal following, it's not for me - too hardcore
Sup
I tried RO and while I can see the attraction and why it has a loyal following, it's not for me - too hardcore Unless you already did, I'd try it again (I can shoot you one of those guest passes, if you'd like) and try out some different classes/maps. Personally, I find the tank gameplay to be pretty unappealing to me, and on most maps the Rifleman class is a bit too, as you said, hardcore. However, there's actually a ton of variety in playstyle depending on your weapons. SMG players get to take things more like the average realistic shooter, firing effectively both from the hip, or iron sights. Snipers, once you learn the maps a bit, can hang out in safeish areas and play like snipers shoot, shooting carefully and then making a mad rush out of your hiding spot when the enemy overruns you. Machinegunners can be great, you can chill in one spot and supress for minutes at a time while your teammates rush on, then switch to your sidearm and join the charge with them. Even within each class, most maps allow semi auto or bolt action rifles -- really, there's something to suit almost every shooter playstyle. That rant aside, yeah. Guns are universally inaccurate (even when rested on a solid surface, which is a necessity in most situations,) recoil's tough, and the game's 'realism' balance has a tendancy to leave new players in the middle of artillery barrages without any support from their teammates -- if it's just not your cup of tea I completely understand. PwntUpRage
I had this game in my hand today and almost bought it. What are the invites you keep mentioning? If I buy the retail version (now only 19.99 canadian) do I still need some sort of invite? Another question, OK so the guns are in-accurate...but when you do hit, does it equal a kill or do you require multiple hits which I can't stand! Sup
but when you do hit, does it equal a kill or do you require multiple hits which I can't stand! That kinda depends. Usually a rifle, mg, or explosive will take someone down in one hit, but hit location/range mattes a lot, and a little bit of it seems to be random chance. Most of the time (with headshots being an exception) it'll take a couple of rounds from an smg or pistol, but this isn't exactly the kind of game that leads to circle strafing battles. Invites are free 10 day trials that anyone who owns the game can send, if you buy a copy you don't need one.
