Deadpreacher Posted May 9, 2007 Share Posted May 9, 2007 As you all may already know the new spring update for the x360 is now out. Anyways i got the update this mourning and after the update everything looks and feels fine until i try to play a xbox games (DVD) in my x360. Well long story short right after the update my x360 no longer wants to play the xbox DVD games. My drive in the x360 now refuse's to play any disc i put in the system. I can not say it was the update for sure. It can be the disc drive just plain out died, but for right now the fact is as soon as i updated my x360 with the spring update i can no longer play disc games. From what i know i haven't heard of anyone else with the same trouble as of yet. As for right now all i can say is if anyone else gets this same problem pls let me know or just plain out beware of it! Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Deadpreacher Posted May 11, 2007 Author Share Posted May 11, 2007 Update: Well it was the spring update that did kill my disc drive to play x360 games. Other disc besides x360 disc games would not work and got bricked. Long story short toke the x360 back to Wal-Mart and got a new one! dporter Posted May 14, 2007 Share Posted May 14, 2007 That is really a shame. I'm surprised Wal-Mart let you take it back. I'm assuming if others had this problem Microsoft should be doing something to replace the bricked machines. It sure has been a roller coaster ride with the 360. Deadpreacher Posted May 14, 2007 Author Share Posted May 14, 2007 GRAW2 i think was the first game i tried to play. From there the disc drive didn't want to play any disc game. Called xbox support and they said 2 weeks repair time. To me thats a life time without the x360 so i tried Mal Mart first and they traded me for a new one without asking no ?? on when and where i got it. That was my 2nd x360 i got to Lan around the house so i had two x360. Over a year old and got at another store (GameCrazy). I now have a new love for Wal Mart and there trade in's! It could be just right at the right second my Disc drive died or the update did do something!? I don't really know, but there aint no reports beyond me haven this happen to that i know of anyways. It did play Movies just not Disc games. Me and the x360 staff though that since the x360 played movies, but not games it could be the update that did it, but one can not be sure. Only had trouble with one taken in the update or at least that very second when i got it. Anyways yea the update is a blast and working great now i love it! CR6 Posted May 14, 2007 Share Posted May 14, 2007 Well, there have been reports around the 'net about the new update bricking 360's. My 360 hasn't had an update since I played GRAW 2 (briefly) soon after it came out ... I've just been surprised how many people I've ran into lately that are on their 2nd and 3rd 360's. I have owned 5 x360 over time since release of the system all to LAN at my house with friends. From all the x360 i owned and even with all the time they ran for hours at a time. Not one of them ever over heated or even got that hot for that matter. Take into account i keep them clean here where once a week me or my GF dusts everything even going so far to use the CAN AIR to clean vents on all are stuff. Also remeber to check your Power brick on its vents. That thing loves to suck in dust. I did however have 2 friends over xbox live that did get a broken x360. I told them about the towel trick i heard over the PC. Both of them tried the trick and it did get the x360 back into working order. Well not saying the overheating aint out there, but i only really know 2 that it may have affected. Also today i found a cool video with some guy showing how he used the towel trick to fix hes x360. If it ever happened to you might want to try it out! Video of the towel Trick Also yes i have owened 5 x360 at once and now down to 2 x360. I have since sold them to my friends that came over everyday to play. They all still working fine today and once in awhile they still bring them over for a LAN party. Will the ones that haven't gotten LIVE yet and thats soon to chance. Also Rocky, Yea i can't wait for Forza 2 myself going to be a good game! Also looking forward to Two Worlds coming out soon after!
