Rocky
I've been using Xfire for some time now, for the sole purpose of seeing what and where my contacts are playing. Everytime Xfire did an auto update though, I caught sight of the upgrade contents, and there were always a number of cool items there I never had time to investigate further, or simply make use of. So if you are not one of the 7 million people already using Xfire, save yourself some time and add some new functionality to your gaming routine. Here's my ... The Top Five things XFire makes easier for gamers. 1. Launching Your Games If you Right Click on the XFire icon in your taskbar, then slide up to the Launch option, XFire will alphabetically list all your games, and even Teamspeak. It'll also put the most recent game to the top of the list. This is the fastest way to find and launch your games that I know about. Now you don't need to use the windows Start menu which by default has Games annoyingly listed by Publisher instead of title, and you can also remove some icons from your desktop and benefit from the bonus of a tidier desktop. 2. Joining Online games X-Fire supports one click server joining. If you see a mate on X-Fire already playing a game, just click the joypad icon to immediately join him in game! No more "what IP/server are you on dude" complications. 3. Patching Your Games Xfire has it's own P2P network that will automatically distributes the latest game patches to Xfire clients. It is a great way of ensuring that you do not miss the latest patch for any of your games. There are various settings you can customise, such as how much bandwidth the tool uses to download the file, and where you want the patches stored. These are found in the Tools Menu, Options, then Files tab. Whenever a new patch has arrived, the File tab in the Xfire main display will flash. If you prefer to manually download and install patches this feature can be disabled. 4. The Servers Tab Ever join a random game server one night that had a great ping and good games, and now you can't recall where it was? The Xfire Server tab right there in the main display records your server history, very handy! 5. Screenshots If you play more than one or two games, then like me you probably get frustrated when you can't recall what the default screenshot key is - right when something cool is going on ingame. With Xfire you can set one screenshot key that will work in all your games (it's in the chat tab of the Options). Not only that, there's an entire Screenshot management system that includes 15Mb of webspace to store them on! That really is pretty cool. Bonus. For those of you with more time on your hands, there's also Skinning to get stuck in to... Change the skin Make Custom Skins
