People seem to think of tigers like any other big cat (leopards, jaguars etc) but they're by far the largest cats - they grow up to ten feet long. Think of how high a domestic cat can jump (quite impressive, given their small size), and then think how much bigger than that a tiger is... it's not actually all that surprising that they can jump so far.
