KishKiai
Hello there, I've just began playing GRAW today. The game seems great, but there is this thing that keeps bugging me. I'm not sure I understand how the marking system of enemies work. I'm on mission 2 at the moment and I've noticed that at the beginning of the mission the first group of enemies were almost completely marked while viewing through the tactical map (no direct eye contact). Now that I'm approaching some sort of square on the top of map, I see large group of enemies through tactical map, but non of them gets marked with red diamonds... What gives? Thanks in advance and sorry for possible grammar errors. -KsK
Cell
I'm pretty sure that enemies will show up if any of your team members have a visual or if the UAV is in visual range of enemies.
KishKiai
So basically there is no way of marking enemies seeing them through tactical map right? And how about my self? Should the enemies be marked on my visual contact too?
Ick
If the drone is hovering above enemies.....little red diamonds appear on the video screen only. If you hold down the right BUMPER button you go into full screen mode and the drone will drop altitude slightly and go into scan mode.....linking what the drone scan sees directly with your HUD. I think this stayes locked on for a certain time period whilse you move about the map. If you zoom in and get your reticule on an enemy you will also notice your Advanced Warfighter equipment do a scan and "lock in" on the enemy. The friendly AI seems to be spotty. Sometimes a guy is in clear sight and the enemy location doesn't get marked all the way to your HUD...but generally the AI does VERBALLY tell you what they see.....three targets to the Northweat or whatever/ Edited April 19, 2007 by Ick
KishKiai
Thanks for reply. I've noticed that when my team mates spot an enemy it instantly appears on HUD. I've pretty much figured out how the UAV works too. Too bad I haven't figured out how to lock the enemies on my own, I've tried zooming on them, but no scanning or anything occurs. Even if they open fire and no one except myself sees that, the enemies don't get marked with red diamonds in HUD. Do I need some specific equipment for this scanning? Do I need to press anything specific when I spot them?
krise madsen
No. When the UAV or your team mates spot an enemy, their diamond will show up on your HUD. The ones you spot but are unseen by team mates or UAV don't get the diamond. It is exclusively an aid to you when using your team mates or UAV to scout ahead. Enemies seen on the tactical map (i.e. sattelite view) don't get a diamond. You can't do anything about this (i.e. you can't spot/mark enemies yourself), except to position your team mates and UAV where they have a good chance of spotting enemies. And it isn't foolproof either. There may be an enemy right around the corner, firing his gun like a madman, but because none of your team mates or the UAV has line-of-sight on him, you don't get a diamond. KishKiai
Thanks, I guess that answers all of my questions. Though I think it's kind of weird that a squad leader doesn't have this function. If you don't have the probe, you have to put your team members in an unnecessary danger spotting enemies, when the leader has already done that... Just a thought, thanks again

Just a thought, thanks again You're wellcome I suppose the thinking behind it is that if you the player can see the target you should shoot at it rather than waste time on keeping your squad up to date. Odd perhaps, especially if you've played Battlefield 2 (albeit that is an MP game) where you're used to spotting enemies for your team mates. My advice is to just ignore it and play on.
