firefly2442
I really wanna try out Red Hat linux. However, I don't want to repartition my current drive. I just got a Maxtor 80 gig external firewire hard drive and I was wondering if it would be possible to put an OS on that and boot from there? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. Stinger
I will admit I don't know how but you CAN boot from an external HDD.

Is your heart set on Red Hat? The new version of Mandrake is very friendly for new linux users... Oh, and if the external drive boot doesn't work, you could always go old skool... Boot Disk!
