Rocky 1,224
After fitting my 9500pro I was getting banding on the display - horizontal scrolling lines. Today I eventually looked into the problem and discovered (thanks google groups) that plenty of other people get the same thing, and that the cards are being replaced if you send them back.... Ruin 17
What do you mean? I used to get "Scrolling lines" whenever there was an EMI problem near my monitor. Everything is fine with my 9500pro chip.. Ocassionally, when changing modes, 3 little liens appear for a couple seconds (if that) then disappear...
Rocky 1,224
When reading the forums, using PSP, or reading mail for example, out of the blue, at random, a full screen of faint lines will appear and scroll up or down the screen. I have not been able to figure out what is causing it, I thought maybe hard drive activity, but I don't think it is - then I read other people were getting this distortion as soon as they switched to the ati card. Ruin 17
I got that with EMI... ElectroMagnetic Interference. It was when I had a TV screen next to my monitor. Maybe you should cheack around for similar devices? I've heard even telephones can do that.
RooK 0
Rocky, try a different refresh rate and see what happens.
Rocky 1,224
Rocky, try a different refresh rate and see what happens. Yeh I did try that, but I can't find a suitable refresh rate/resolution pairing that gives me a satisfactory, sharp and flicker free display - other than the 1024x768 75Hz setup I use now If I go higher than 75Hz for example - the text display gets very fuzzy. Ruin 17
Try 60Hz... thats what I'm running IIRC.
Rocky 1,224
Try 60Hz... thats what I'm running IIRC. At 60 I get pretty bad flashing, almost like a strobe effect, out of the corner of my eye, at 80 I lose focus, 75 is where it's at for my monitor.
Stinger 0
Your monitor aint so good if you have probs at 60Hz. I get slight fuzzyness on text when at 75Hz refresh rate.
RooK 0
Tried the 'Optimal Refresh Rate' or the 'Default Adapter' options yet?
Rocky 1,224
Your monitor aint so good if you have probs at 60Hz. Samsung SyncMaster 753DFX

But 60Hz isn't high and you should return it and get a new monitor if it falters at that point.

I have no idea how it rates, all I know is it's a great display normally At 60Hz, I am aware of a high speed sort of "flickering", but only really out of your periperal vision, when I switch it to 75 it's a nice solid display. I don't think there is anything "wrong" with the monitor per-say, that's why we have different refresh rate settings to choose from - to find the one that works

I suppose I assumed wrong, that comes from the battlefront at arstechnica lol. And 60Hz should always be the most stable thats what I've been told and tought. Most LCD's top out there and that is where they are most reliable and such. Your monitor is special I spose.
RooK 0
LCDs top out there because they can't handle the higher refresh rates, hence why you get ghosting on a lot of them. I use a NEC MultiSync XV17, and it tops out around 76hz on 1024x768, but it's old.
